Where We Are Now

I think some of us got a little excited and carried away with the possibilities that came along with having new owners. I know I did.
The fact of the matter is the takeover saved our club but hasn't made us a wealthy team. We can't compete with the bigger budgets of this division and as i've said before we are much more in line with a medium sized league One club than those of the likes of Brighton, Southampton and Huddersfield.
Have to agree with @sam3110 that the talk about a complete overhaul, with Semedo being a squad player at best is miles off as it looks likely that he won't even be our player next season.
One thing I really do like is that I know SCP doesn't see a future in loads of loan players making up the first team, there maybe a couple of long term loans but he is looking for a team of our players.

I've had to somewhat reassess my view on what next season holds, I still don't believe it's all doom and gloom and see us now as much more like the club that we were when we had that amazing day at Wembley in 98. Unfortunately we don't have the team to match and hopefully SCP can change that over the summer.

For me, a play off place come next May would be a great achievement.

  • i really disagree. finishing between 3rd and 6th in league one will not be a great achievement. a better achievement than this year but by no means a GREAT achievement. i understand your post but it still doesn't cover that unless we pull something out of the bag this summer we'll be stuck here for a very long time to come. you don't need a massive budget to win promotion and having a big budget doesn't necessarily mean you'll get it anyway. a great achievement will be winning the league, the minimum achievement must be promotion
