This is not the first time this particular bit of road has had an accident like this.
I remember when it opened and thought why have they built a 2 lane road, on what is essentially the London to Dover road.!
The bizzare idea that you restrict the speed is a result of poor traffic management, and poor traffic flow by the vision, or lack of it of the planners!. The Crayford interchange further down is another accident waiting to happen! or should I say has already happened!.The approach road is not long enough while people slow down to the speed restrictions at the black prince!
The constant speeding beetween and braking beetween the speed cameras makes this a very difficult road to drive on at anytime!, especially by where the accident happened!
The irony is that the other side of the road has an empty train station! and the chances of widening the A2 here are limited at best, because of cost now.
I was hoping that the road would have been upgraded because of the Olympics, but the daily carnage and traffic jams, help make this side of the Thames the arse hole of the universe it has become!
Remember the A2 being extended and even then thought, "2 lanes...why?" They shifted so much fecking dirt to build that road, what a short sighted bunch we are as a nation. Do not know if there was any truth in the rumour but the reason no-one can turn left off of the Falconwood slip road towards New Eltham is apparantley because most of the councillors lived in the big houses down that way and didn't want it turned into a rat run. If true, then nothing changes in local politics !
