[cite]Posted By: uie2[/cite]havent we got a really good home record against huddersfield! i cant remmember us losing a home game to them ! maybe im wrong!!! 2-1 win
I saw us lose 2-1 to them at The Valley in the early eighties thanks in large part to a comedy of errors between Tony Lange (?spelling) in goal and Les Berry who played "after you Claude" whilst Martin Ling (I think) nipped in to round Lange and score the winner in the last few minutes.
Could somone can confirm or shed some light on the year after the 7-6 result.
I seem to remember the TV cameras were at the Valley for the next encounter expecting a repeat goals galore game and it was a dull 1-0 to us. Don't remember who scored our goal but it wa a bad error by their keeper letting a shot squirm in, the keeper in question I think was Wood the old Man Utd keeper.

We played them in a cup replay a few weeks later and won 1 - 0. There were 26,637 there despite it being playing at 2.00pm on a working Wednesday (no floodlights). Twice as much as the league and more than the league average.
Wood didn't play in that game but did the next season when we won 2 - 1.
And it came to pass that Saint Christopher walked into the temple where King Slater and the money lenders were gathered to drink wine and count their gold pieces and said unto them:
"The people of the red Valley are unhappy and want great glory on Saturday but I must gather my crippled disciples together with just a few shekels and young Bradley of Lewisham, who is now sorely troubled by the lack of service."
"The old angry Christian has been banished by the blind pharisee in black and Judas Jenkinson has betrayed me to Prince Wenger of the mighty Highburies. Even faithful Jackson is crippled and lame in his bed. In truth, I am sorely afraid of those dogs from the north" said Saint Christopher
And King Slater rose from his golden throne and his eunuchs and servants ran from him in fear.
"Are you not Saint Christopher, the chosen one of the Lord (Curbs)?" he asked.

Henry Thanks for that, it was obviously the league game that I was remembering even though I got the score line wrong.

And my dad went to both games! (he bunked off school for the cup replay) I have the three Huddersfield programmes for the Dec/Jan that season as a mate of his went to the cup game up there and brought one back for him

This is a difficult one. With everyone fit or available we should win this at home but what with the injuries (Parrett, Jackson, Anyinsah) and unavailabilities (Dailly) it depends how the replacements play. My heart is telling me a win (and I'm voting for that) but my head is telling me a draw or defeat. Now that's what you call sitting on the fence. :-)
Don't seem to matter no more. Might go and watch the Truro tomorrow. Top of the league bloody Truro pushing for promotion into the conference south or whatever it's called. We'll be playing Truro in a couple of years. You'll see.
Gloom. doom and ...erm...more doom. When does next season start? Think we'll do better? Puh - lease?
Valley express from Ashford sold out at the begining of the week so i've got to splash the cash and get the train up they'd better bloody win , it will be a 0-3 loss
Bound to win, I won't be there. Going on a tour of the Stratford Stadium. Typical that of all the times we could have been allocated we got 3pm on Saturday.

"Well go and produce a bloody miracle then".
This is the word of the Lord (Curbs)
1-1. Amen.
Love it, Grumps!
We'll get well beat

Huddersfield like to attack, so catching them on the break could be our best chance, but with a porous defence that might be irrelevant.
LOL ... love it
BWP, Racon and Waggy to score.
