Pre Season Friendly with Millwall

  • Oh yeah, I remember the last "friendly". No doubt the coins, abuse, etc were all "just banter".

Will never forget some kid, probably about 14, shaking the gate outside and screaming abuse at me. Half my size, half my age. If he'd somehow got through the gate he would've shat his pants, but still he gave it. Threw a coin, hit the gate and rebounded into his face. Absolute prize helmet.

"just banter" no doubt. That's the difference between us and them. On the whole they revel in it, whereas we just think it's pathetic.
  • Blimey, that blog post seems from a different world. Forgot about the Millwall lads being turned away from the New Cross Road pubs. Heh.

Weren't we away at Watford for another baffling friendly a year or two back?
  • I got a baby due on July 11th, should be a good enough excuse to get out of this one!
  • Given the Wise proximity to Jimensz, I can't help thinking that he had a hand in this rubbish idea.
  • if we win does that mean we sighn dunne ?
  • Yes i will be there!
  • Millwall & the Pogues on the same day, just like December 09, looking forward to it

Whether it be shaking the gates and screaming obscenities, holding flags or singing in poor taste it can't be denied that however disgraceful the individual incidents are the atmosphere is a benefit to the team. It's fair to say that everybody i've spoken to from whichever team they support, comes to the conclusion that Millwall is a horrible place to go with horrible fans. Nobody likes going there which makes it a difficult place to go. I'm not condoning what they do and it definitely isn't friendly banter but I do always think when these discussions arise that we can do so much more to make The Valley a difficult place to come. Away teams and fans treat it like it's a day out and other managers have even said if you get at us early we will turn on our team. The Valley holds no fear. We can make such a difference to the atmosphere inside our ground and it doesn't have to be in the manner of the hooligans in blue.
  • I reckon someone should go into the away teams dressing room before every match and have a "dirty protest" in there. That should show them we mean business.
  • Is that SLL in the NY cap at the front with the blue polo on?

Oh no wait, How can he find time to watch his own team when he must have been posting on here...

Crikey, millwall have some odd fans. What a grim bunch.
  • Was that yesterday?

  • Millwall talked about life bans for those who did this last season , I presume the club will take action.

its a smokescreen to put out in the press. They have no intention of banning anyone i can assure you.

    Friendly banter...

I wonder how many of them actually understand what is depicted on the Turkish flag that they are waving so enthusiastically?

Absolutely laughable given their well known political leanings.
  • The boy (bottom left) has found a novel way of using his dick to hold a flag.

Well known political leanings? Simon Hughes is the local MP!! We've got our far right thinking numpties, we've got our far left wallies, then we've got a whole lot inbetween from both ends. Just like Charlton have. Just like every team has, just like every group in the country.

Can't recall many clubs who have had a first generation immigrant chairmen and a black female chief exec.

I don't think "every team in the country" has fans that takes Turkish and Galatasary flags in their satchels when they play Leeds in order to mock murder.
  • Have they banned the 8 year old in the bottom right of the corner?
