lets be honest

although we had a good result today can anyone doubt that we need RB RM LB LM and GK better than the ones out there today and i aint including Racon as a lm,thought he was immense today despite being played out of position.our youngsters are out of there depth especially solly who looked like a little boy out there at times today and also waggy.I would love them to be fantastic players coming through the youth system but they are not good enough,id love nothing more than to be proved wrong but i dont think i will be.waggy has better chance.

  • Really? I thought Solly had a pretty good game.
  • I actually quite like Waggy and Solly. Together they play really well and you can tell that they have been playing together for a few years
  • Waggy and Solly work really well together
  • need a new keeper definitely, elliot is to inconsistant and his kicking is apalling.
  • do you really think we could get promotion with these 2 next year.Remember the first half not just the end and the result, although i know thats what counts.we are weak down both flanks and thats what makes our better players look bad.in my opinion
  • A goalkeeper is the least of our worries..........just because he can't kick straight doesn't make him a bad keeper - just ask Dean Keily

If we could have Parret next season, along with Stewart, Semedo, Racon and 2 other midfielders (pref wingers) then that would be a start. Add in a couple of half decent strikers to go with BWP and Anyinsah, a left back to cover Jackson and a right back to cover Solly and then finally 2 decent centre halves to help out Dailly & Llera, then we might stand a chance next season.
  • your very much correct, how silly of me. I have a better plan. How about putting Fortune up front?
  • I thought it was a clear tactical error to play without enough width today. Racon was always looking to come inside early, though i agree he still shone when he had the ball. Orient's right back was quality (guy with blue boots) and got forward at will. And on the right, wagstaff was generally ineffective, and that booking at the end summed up his day.

Totally agree with what you say about Solly but be careful as your not allowed to criticise him!

Omozusi? That's funny, most deemed him to be complete tosh when he filled in for Richardson last season!

Worst player ever to don a Charlton shirt somebody said.
  • lol.. well, well, Omozusi indeed..
  • Solly had a very good game today, as for Racon he was his usual completely ineffective self all game. Just don't see what people see in him. Looks quite neat and tidy but gives nothing and slows up attack after attack. I have absolutely no desire to keep him in the summer

Racon made the first goal so don't see how he can be described as 'completely ineffective' and he had an excellent volley saved by the keeper.

So you missed the second half then? Racon ran the show after half time.

It's a good job you're not the Charlton manager then, because we actually won today.
  • I'm not sure whether it was the best I've seen Racon play or just the most I've seen him be involved. Either way I thought he was very, very good today!

Racon, our only player that was anything like creative first half and the best player in the second.

..... although he also gave up on helping bessone defend near the end of the first half
  • Semodo and racon will leave in the summer. Time to try something different...

Racon And Semedo were great today but have to agree , it's time for a new midfield. They carry way too much baggage.

    Brilliant.
  • This is Solly's first ever run of starts at right back. He's never even been out on loan. Maybe he won't be good enough but give him time, don't see why he can't improve with games.

As for Wagstaff he's not a typical winger, he won't beat his man easily or get loads of crosses in. He'll offer more in a better team though, a team that can create more chances.
  • I agree with Bert. Solly & Wagstaff should be squad players, but not 1st team. Once again, this is if we want to end up top 2 next season.
If we want to end up bottom half/relegation candidates, yes they are good enough for that.
  • Solly and Wagstaff have years ahead of them and I think they're passing muster now. If we keep playing them in this division next season they'll get better. Moreover I'd like to keep Bessone - the only reason he looked at all bad yesterday would have been because of the lack of width. Racon was fantastic on the ball but positionally was drifting centrally and we couldn't pull that off regularly (though we did well yesterday). Elliot's fine as a keeper and can still improve. Only thing I really agree with is that a left mid is desperately needed, or we need the Kyel Reid that comprehensively dicked on everyone at the start of the season.
  • How many goals has wagstaff got-9? Not bad for a winger!
  • Solly is definitely not a worry for me. He competes well and will only improve with games. He's just not the sort of player I expect will ever "go missing". On the other hand and side I am a little worried about Bessone. Not be overly impressed tbh. He was left stranded for the O's goal yesterday. Was passed easily to allow the cross to the far side which came back in for the offside headed goal and even when beaten showed no desire to get back into danger area. Jury still out on Federico for me. Racon was very good yesterday. Criticised him often but during this awful run he seems to have been one of very few players to step up to the plate.

Racon was excellent in the second half. But in the first half, I lost count of the number of times he moved forward, only to do what he so often does, turn round and pass back - it makes our attacks so ponderous and easy to defend.
  • Actually thought it was Parrett who was the key player and made the difference in the second half. He pushed into the space behind the front 2 and dictated the pattern of play. We were 4-3-1-2 after half time.
