Advice for Powell? Stop being nice, kick a football boot into someones head, call the referee unfit, start a food fight, go nose to nose wih Adkins, claim not to see any foul your player commits and give yourself a nickname..... 'The Special One' is taken, so how about 'The Superior One', 'The Unique One' or simply 'Big Boss'
That's parking the bus IMO, and then we can have a bench of Sullivan, Fry, Solly, Wagstaff, Reid, Eccleston, Anyinsah to have as many options as possible.
It's a sad state of affairs when we have contemplate parking the bus against fellow league opposition, especially a team that we were mocking for their lowly league position at the start of the season
Put the raincoat on or hang it up somewhere. Ensure you have a good resignation plan because i get the feeling tuesday could be a bit testing. Actually quite looking forward to it.
[cite]Posted By: csr_cafc[/cite]Parking the bus seems like the way forward for this one...deffo drop mccormack put ecclestone in the team and poss go 4-3-3 ?
Could play like this with semedo playing as a defensive mid and ecccles given a free-ish role behind the front man. For that to work he would have to track back to cover the midfield.
Worner
Solly---Dailly---Fry---Bessone/Jenks
Semedo
Waggy
Reid
Ecclestone
Nouble/BWP
I'd tweek that to the below:
Worner & Sullivan
Solly---Dailly---Fry---Bessone
Semedo
Waggy
Reid
Nouble/BWP
It suprises me that someone who supports Millwall shows so much interest in Charlton.
I think that you actually like Charlton.
Perhaps you should grow some bollocks and realise that no matter how much bravado you put on down the Den, you probably just don't fit in.
I presume you didn't look at my line up properly...
Be prepared and brave enough to change it around. On Saturday we were 2-0 down after 55 minutes, his team /formation/tactics where not working. The midfield were second best to Daggers lads in every area, we were hitting it long which was not working, he should have had the balls to go 3-5-2, we had 3 centre backs on anyway, MacCack should have come of, Racon on, Big Frank off (who gave it his best) and Eccels on, pack and play it around the midfield, to the feet of the front two where they need it. Powell did not do this on Sat, he just brought a fullback on?? he then brought on Reidy who was dire and looked like he would have preferred to stay on the bench. And Eccels on with about 10 minutes to go, A player needs 10 minutes to get into the game. When its not working the good managers change tactics/formation, not just swap players and hope for the best. Chris you need a plan B mate!!! The bollocking you got was deserved on saturday, it 'appeared' you did not know what you were doing and I agree the players are not fit to wear the shirt!!
Yes we need to ditch McCormack who wil be exposed even more than he is usually against the better quality players Southampton possess. Worner is not ready - but I don't know enough about Sullivan - so can't call that. Let's say Worner, Francis, Dailly, Mambo (Time to be blooded), Bessone - we will need bodies in midfield for this one I think - Semedo, Parret and Llera (I'd add him there for a bit more defensive stability on set pieces and a bit of physicality in attack to complement my strikers). I'd play Eccleston in a free role behind the 2 strikers of Anyinsah and Nouble. The tactics - not pretty, I'm afraid - power and pace and crowding the danger areas and height at the back for set pieces in both boxes. We are not going to beat Southampton by playing football. Options on the bench with Waggy (better against tiring legs), Reid and BWP.
Expect McCormack to play and a similar side/formation that got turned over all too easily by D&R - one thing that has struck me about Powell is that he is very conventional -he doesn't think outside the box at all and I think that might be what we need at this moment in time. Height at the back - height up front for set pieces - strength and pace - maybe not too much skill and try to battle for everything and knock Southampton off their stride. Width from Francis and Bessone and route 1 order of the day. We will lose this playing any other way so it would be interesting to see what happens if we use the physicality that the team possesses.
Pick players who have demonstrated that they want to be in the team and who hate losing (if there are any).
Then pick a team with a defensive bias, but with pace in the forward line to take advantage of any counter attacks.
Instruct them to close down quickly and not allow Southampton any time on the ball.
Play a defender in midfield if possible and tell them to get lots of tackles in.
Stop Southampton playing and frustrate the hell out of them, then try to nick a late winner.
all we want to see is some balls from these players!!!! fliring into tackles, running bullocks off, thowing bodies infront of the ball then blocking ,putting in head where it herts!! are you lisening charlton squad!!
Exactly - give up on trying to play football with tis lot - if you can't beat the rest of the teams in this division - join them - until we bring in some qulaity at least. We are capable of putting out a big strong fast team so why not give that a go given that a skillful passing side is seemingly beyond us.
Solly Dailly Llera Fry Semedo Racon N. E Parret Reidy BWP
That's the best i can get out of a bad bunch at the moment. I'm not happy with our CB's and i think Fry is vunerable at LB but i think he is better in that position then Jenkins. Semedo and Racon in front of the back for can hopefully offer some protection too. BWP up front on his own probably won't see much of the ball but its the wingers and Parrets job to offer him support. Best i can come up with.
I believe that CP has strong religious beliefs so I suggest a day of fasting, followed by confession and a huge prayer. If he thinks a sacrifice would help, he has a long list of contenders to choose from.
5 in midfield, reid and waggy on the wings semedo and dailly yes dailly as the holding mids with jackson if fit the creative spark or parrett, nouble up front alone, lera and fry cbs with francis and bessonne full backs.

I know people say Worner is not ready, but do we know that Sullivan is? Just need the players to believe.
