Interest has gone

edited March 2011 in General Charlton
Morning,

It has taken a while but I've now nearly lost complete interest in following Charlton. When we lost, I treat it like a comedy rather than us slipping up in our performance.

It has taken a while but the spirit and passion shown by our players has finally rubbed off.

    I do.
  • Yep and me stopped going, if the players cant be bothered and show some commitment. Then why should i?
  • Me too.

I told our kit man yesterday that the team were losing a lot of friends by playing crap, and asked him to pass it on.
  • I won't take my daughter as its pschological damaging to me let alone her :)

and I don't want over do her dose of supporting charlton whe we was sh*t

I will contine going however as it makes everything else in life seem great in comparison
  • See you all then.

Be sure not to come back when we start winning again.

Because if we all took that stance the club would go bust.

As a fan you are the heart of the club, rathern than just a paid employee.
  • their our shovel keep the faith, apparently its all going to be ok...
  • as some have already pointed out how can you just stop surporting charlton! win lose or draw or very bad run its still LOVE! ok razil has a point i wouldnt take my kids right now iver! i would love to go more but as i said in other threads im potless theses day! makes me sad i cant go! lowest point in charlton history? maybe in terms of league position! but i still think having no ground and having to play at selhurst park was our lowest point!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love you always charlton athletic football club

  • Through thick and thin.
  • even though i think i've lost interest, i know that i'll still be there for every home game and a few away before the end of the season
  • Only 6 attempts on target yesterday.

    Sums it up for me.

Support is one thing but entertainment is necessary to make me open my wallet and buy a ticket.
  • I'll always keep going because I'm a glutton for punishment but I'm fed up of having my weekend constantly ruined and sometimes wish I didn't care so much.
  • 6 on target? That's brilliant compared to some games this season. Sounds like a feast of entertainment.
  • i live in bighton all my family and friends are brighton fans ,, withdean stadium is a 5 min walk away, new stadium is only a bus jurney away..
but i still go and watch Charlton's toothless performances match after match .
as i was watching Charlton vs Brentford and Brentford scored , i was kind of expecting it . as i was on the train i just kept thinking why do i bother.
i think the attitude at charlton at the moment is all wrong, i think it was a disgrace for the board to say they where going to write the season off,
as the fans would never write any season off !

im starting to lose interest too

simple as that really, well said

You haven't lost complete interest in following Charlton but are just pissed off, like the rest of us.

Charlton will stay with you forever! What unites us all is that we are interested & do care!

Who knows we might even have a decent few homes games to enjoy in the spring sunshine which'll put a smile back on a few faces!

    UP THE ADDICKS!!!
  • bloody bunch of larrys, just this minute renewed for next season, Come on you reds

  • if the board say write the season off then the board should be ashamed the fans never think that way we go for love of the club and any win is a good day out
  • There's no entertainment in watching this team currently. Can't believe this is the same team which got alot of late goals in the season. Winning vs Orient with 10 men, they are the same players, they didn't seem to give up. Let's hope they can restore some pride before the season is out.
  • I don't rate today's team as awful as most of you do. I've attended games in the sixties and seventies when we were even worse, and that was in the
second tier and not the third we are in now. True, football has changed a lot since, but I'm sure many older supporters know what I mean.
To some extent, we can lose or diminish our interest in football, but in Charlton ...... never!
For me, even if we end up in some poxy league having to groundshare with, say, Bradford Park Avenue, it'll always be
    C H A R L T O N T I L L I D I E !!
  • I love this club, I always have, I always will. I will back them through thick and thin no matter what, but I just don't feel anything like the passion or love I had by watching and supporting Charlton. There isn't any reaction when we lose, it's just like a normal day now. I used to get so depressed and down about it, I don't anymore. Charlton is in my blood, it's who I am, I have just renewed my season ticket for next season but we not nothing like the old Charlton, this is who and where we are now. It's got to change but the only way to do that is to stick together, as a club, as supporters - like a family. We'll get through this, we will get out of this league. Keep the faith, live life to to full and believe. We will return. CHARLTON 'TILL I DIE.
  • I'll never leave them, they are my club through thick and thin! I've been brought up with this club and will never lose interest, the glory boys are going. All the other fans keep the faith, it will turn. C'mon you reds!
  • i,ve now quite handily reached a point where it doesn't bother me - i go and the worse it gets the funnier it gets but i no longer even contemplate an away game or bother to sing - i just observe now really - at least when macormack plays there's comedy value. i just can't get worked up about it any more but i know it will turn around at some point - its still luxury in comparison to the sellhurst days.
  • Must admit i'm totally in this boat as well. The other week v Carlisle was the first time ever i've been on my way home from work and thought "you know what, i really can't be bothered to go down there and waste my night sitting in the freezing cold watching that sh*t again". We lost 3-1.

I've had a season ticket since the Upton park days going with my dad and this is the first time in my life i'm thinking i might not bother to renew next season, and i think i'll just pick and choose my games next season.
  • I went to Chelsea v Man City today and ignoring the football, the atmosphere was buzzing, there were songs being sung all over the ground, and there was a real anticipation before and during the game.

None of that exists at Charlton right now. To those of you that are critising fans that openly admit that they are not enjoying it I ask you to look a little closer to home and if it's true, please come on here and tell us that you are really enjoying your days out at The Valley right now. Tell us that you can feel the excitement among the fans, and that there is some anticipation at games.

Other than Exeter, which turned out badly, I don't remember any of the above for a long time.

Also if you are going to admonish and send away any fan that doesn't enjoy what we've seen for the last ten games, you'd better get ready for another target 10,000.

Some fans find solace in showing their commitment to the club, others find it in sharing their fears and disappointments. We can't all be the same, and nor should we want to be.

Those that come back with meaningless sarcastic comments will never answer that question truthfully...
    Good post!
  • There's a big difference between not enjoying it and deciding to jack it in.

I doubt that anyone is "enjoying it" right now, but what do you do - abandon the club you have been supporting for over 30 years (in my case)? Not me. If you don't want to go then don't go - it's really as simple as that. But don't expect me to shed a tear, I'll be going to The Valley to watch my team play.
