Play-offs

edited March 2011 in General Charlton
If we win all 3 of our games in hand, we will only be 4/5 points behind the Dons. Also i can see them slipping up a bit as well. If we win at Dagenham tomorrow, we may have a confidence boost ahead of a few difficult games, but we do seem to do well against the better teams.

  • Don't beat yourself up - it's over.
  • Back away from the crack pipe.
  • If we win we will start thinking about them again but what evidence do we have to believe that will happen? Very little -can see us getting 2 draws and a defeat from the next 3 personally.
  • We won't make it but if we did it will be Bournemouth we overtake and not MK.
  • go and have a lie down
  • I love these Red Nose Day threads.
  • If all the other teams in the league go into administration and get deducted 100 points I think we'll go up
  • We won't win 3 more games this season!
  • Our form is woeful, we can't score goals and we don't keep clean sheets.

We need to keep an eye on what's behind us, not above us.
  • I agree, we're definitely looking down and not up. At the moment I think it'd be an achievement if we finish in the top half but the top 6 have gone. Next season is only 5 months away...

  • I'm with you Matt, i'll only fully rule it out if we don't win tomorrow.

If we beat Dagenham and then follow it up on Tuesday against Soton, all of a sudden things will look a bit different.

Its pretty much out of our hands, but neve say never at this point.

Not win tomorrow then forget it
  • It's over. we've got to play Hudders, Saints (Twice) and Bournemouth. Can't see us winning any of those
  • I personally think are play off hopes are already over due to are crap recent run in form, but a win at Dagenham could start a massive end of season campaign to get them COYR
  • I just want the equivalent of two wins to ensure our third division status next season let alone the play-offs!

Good shout Matt, It aint over till its over, but it we dont win in Pylon county tomorrow then its over!!!
  • What a sobering thought!...... our season is defined by beating this mob!
  • There is still time

    To get promoted/relegated
  • Big ask but Bournemouth and MK Dons do not have easy games either.

If we win tomorrow, who knows? maybe we'll get some momentum and Saints are very jekyll and hyde- knowing our luck we'll get the team that beat Bournemouth but would be nice to think we could get the side that lost to Walsall.

Speaking to a friend yesterday, said "you never know" about 4 times when discussing the remaining games.

Yes pigs will be flying all over SE7 and we will all be covered in pig poo.
  • Loving the optimism. "It ain't over till it's over" as the song goes.

The least we should expect is the players to turn up and have a go for everyone of the last dozen or so games.

Expect to see an upturn in the run in, a few decent wins against the top sides but don't think it will be enough to close the gap just making the frustration worse.

Then a fun summer as we see dozens of moves (in and out) before we get back on the rollercoaster again in August.

    Keep the Faith and LLLBH

  • It would be very nice for a never say die attitude to suddenly infuse the players, a sense of "well it may be out of our hands but we are going to scrap and show passion (right tactics and personnel to gain maximum potential from any side we field naturally ;o}) and we will keep right on until it's mathematically impossible" thus showing the spirit that all but the most nerdish oddball would expect to come as standard from any group of players wearing the Charlton Athletic shirt.
