The Road to Nowhere

edited March 2011 in General Charlton
Charlton promotion push has stalled

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere. I have searched the discussions to check to see if it already has but couldn't find it anywhere. I thought it was an interesting read from a Chalrton fan's perspective on the recent performance of our team.

Comments

  • a good read, made me chuckle, but slightly harsh at times " pawel abbot sent back to a labour camp in poland"
  • Selective and unbalanced. Just a rant for the sake of a rant. Nothing constructive about it all.
    From the article.

"The second bit of good news is 19 year old defender Carl Jenkinson who is the best player in a red shirt seen at the Valley for many seasons."

    Jonjo Shelvey doesn't count, obviously.
  • Excellent rant.
  • 'An overweight goalie now replaced by a dwarf' - have to admit, that made me chuckle.
  • "Lightweight Fairies in midfield", great description.

More interesting is the Southampton blog.

Surprised to see they have apparently been playing the long ball game under Adkins.
  • How dare you. How dare you.
  • Funny, but tough as someone has already pointed out. But most of the article unfortunatley made sense.
  • Surely this can't be right, "For the Tranmere fixture, two senior fans refused to get off the Valley Express bus from East Kent, preferring to stay onboard and eat their sandwiches parked up on the Woolwich Road". Why did they get on the bus in the first place?
  • Fair assessment.

  • Very unfair upon some, but sadly I found it very funny and I guess that Journalists seek to make us read their pieces and enjoy them, often at somebody elses expense.
  • harsh in parts but funny too.
  • Agree was harsh. Wonder if the players will get to see it.

Definitely not getting Charlton Player now either !
  • Trouble is the truth hurts!.....
Come on guys , nothing was ever changed without an awkward man!.
I had to laugh at the bus story, if you cannot laugh at yourself you have real issues, after all every one else does!.

This is suppossed to be entertainment and in these dark days we all need some of that!

If Charlton cannot take the home truths about our situation, then perhaps they should consider what and why they support a team like Charlton!

We are where we are, because as a club we are not good enough!.

Of course i speak as a fan, who only gives his one sided view of things, that is I want to play in the highest league, with entertaining players, playing hopefully winning football!. Obviously I am at the wrong club at present!
  • I think its incredibly mean spirited. Yes lets hope the players read it... install further confidence in a team already low on it. Onwards and downwards.
  • Brilliant! And sadly, mostly true.
  • A bit of dramatic licence for sure but, be honest, who didn't empathise with it at least a bit?
  • I agree with most of that (sadly)

Well spotted and good point about Shelvey.

  • Obviously forgot about Shelvey, but apart from that - pretty much spot on for the most part, unfortunately....
  • We've got no chance if you think Jenkinson is the best player in a red shirt for many seasons

Say what you mean!! What a fantastic blog, bit harsh in parts, but the majority of it is on the money.

Firstly, my credit card expired which meant I no longer subscribe to CATV player. What a complete waste of money that is with its rambling commentary from the drunks recruited at Wetherspoons and those awful stuttering images taken on a mobile phone from the back of the east stand by someone bouncing on a poga stick.

I would not use the above to promote the player.
