In all fairness we can't really be bringing in many more loanees. We have 6, we can only name 5 in the squad. Until Elliot is fit and we make a decision on Fry we don't really have a lot to think about.
We have to work with what we've got and make the best of it and that starts with playing players in their right positions and dropping the players that aren't doing it at all at the moment.
At least for next season we have BWP who if fit will score the 15+ goals teams who usually get promoted have them (Holt/Beckford/Morrison and this year (Lambert/Murray/Mackail-Smith)
A pacy centre back, maybe a new keeper, a permanant left back, some in your face centre midfielder who winds the opposition up. Obviously a playmaker would be nice but I have no idea what money we have available so maybe we'll have to find one from the lower leagues somewhere.
On the plus side we don't need a right back with Solly/Jenkinson coming through
A lot depends on who leaves . If we lost Jackson , Racon and Semedo the list gets longer. I also look at ex Addicks diproportionately
Goalkeeper : I agree with others Richard Lee has impressed . what about Ben Alnwick or Jason Brown ? Left Back Bessone or Youga could be ok here . We could do worse than getting Borrowdale back . Centre Back Matt Fry could be the answer here . I'd either like him permanently or if not allow him to go back to Wham and look elsewhere. Right Midfield I've noticed Lloyd Sam is not making the bench at Leeds , I quite like John Welsh at Tranmere , but would he come south ? Central Midfield If it were possible Mark Gower , maybe Kish could be tempted if Brighton don't retain him. Carl Fletcher maybe Stephen Hughes of Norwich (on loan at MK Dons ) Vincelot at Daggers or David Noble at Exeter? Left Midfield Myles Weston has looked good . Forwards What about Shouwomni at Tranmere
What this current Charlton side lacks is a spine. The number one position Powell needs to address (which he should have done straight away) is a centre midfielder who can pass and look comfortable on the ball. Mark Gower at Swansea I think would be a decent signing and has the ability to pass, give and go, always looking for a positive ball.
Second. A decent goalkeeper. That's the 2nd time I've seen Richard Lee play against us this season and on both occasions he has impressed me. Decent height for a keeper, a good age at 28, experienced, excellent shotstopper, and communicates with his back four. Robbie IMO is not good enough. In all my years of supporting Charlton I have never known a keeper to get so many injuries. Mostly muscle strains. Either he is just unlucky or carrying too much weight which contributes to such injuries.
Centre half:A commanding centre half who can organise the back four. Long shot and depends on how much money this present board are prepared to pay but the lad at Reading (Matthew Mills). Would probably cost a few quid and would take some convincing to drop down a level, but if you don't ask you don't get.
Ben Hamer- been on loan a few times from Reading and impressed especially at Brentford. Not likely to get into the Reading team due to Federici/McCarthy and Andersen also there and at 23 will surely want a permanent move. Creswell- the Tranmere LB. Not his best game last week but very good at their place. We need a permanent LB and he is one of the more impressive ones in L1. Michael Nelson- Norwich. Although he has been at Scunny on loan may drop down to L1. Dominating CB. Obviously one or two CM's and a target man type striker will be on the shopping list aswell.
A fit Joe Anyinsah and Jackson would improve us greatly.

Was not impressed with him if it was the same left back playing last week for Tranmere.
Sorry to sound negative but reading some of the names on this thread, we will not be getting out of this division with them that's for sure. If the board are as serious as they made out when they took over we will be needing signings of a higher standing than the likes of Enoch Showunmi and Carl Fletcher

This is the problem , I was trying to be realistic . I hate our current situation and hope one day we can look at the likes of Darren Bent , Scott Carson and Andy Reid again.
Richard J I understand your realism and don't mean to shoot you down in flames.
I am not hinting that we need players of that ilk as it's not going to happen but I am hoping we have the funds to somehow pull as good a player as anyone else in L1 will be able to get in, but I suppose only the men in suits can know that.
Such an uncertain situation at the moment, on all fronts. We all hoped that a takeover (and some hoped that a change of manager) would end our uncertainty, but it has only exacerbated it.
ISLS I was just trying to look at players who have impressed me this year against us .Horses for courses.
Showumni scored twice and has a presence . If we got promoted I accept that he would not cut it in the CCC. Fletcher came on to my radar because he played with Sir Chris at Wham as I think Noble may have done also . Rcihard Lee would have also been a team mate at Watford.
The best name on my list would be Gower if at 33 he wants to move back into the area . On another thread it was suggested he was being lined up and we nearly signed him .

Yes, I would be looking to inject pace in the defence - 2midfielders who are busy but have creativity and attacking wing backs rather than out and out wingers. Think Jenkinson, Solly and Francis can fulfill this role but left back more of an issue.

probably right but like I said if you don't ask you don't get. He is a very good centre half who i see going on to very good things.

As thank any god u might follow. A Rooney, let alone more than 1 of them would be to much for me.

For that to happen we need big money .
