Think we're all looking for someone to point the finger at, but to do that we need to go back to the appointments of Dowie/Reed/Pardew. People can argue that parky was also a wrong choice but the state the club was in at the time, a sinking ship for all to see, I very much doubt that anyone with a half decent pedigree handed in their CV at the time.
Parky can't be blamed as far as i see it. Yeah, he brought in players of a very questionable standard, but do you honestly think that another manager could have got a better squad with no money to spend? Then to perform above (resonable) expectations and get into the play-offs, miss out, only to have the team ripped apart and start again from scratch. The team that Powell has inheireted is one that is capable of holding it's own in this division but no more than that.
Now after 6 weeks into his new job, some of you guys are beginning it seems to question his ability to run this club. Yes, he's inexperienced and all that but I honestly think if we appointed Alex ferguson with Curbs as his No2 then they still would do no better. There's an old saying about only being as good as your tools.........
We can't even blame the players, as (with the odd exception) they go onto the pitch and give their all for 90 mins. If they're not good enough for our expectations then can we really blame them? They are after all, 3rd division players doing what it says on the tin.
Just seems that too many people think we have a god given right to gain promotion without taking into account that facts of how we got into this mess in the first place.
