Hi Guys

Have started to run my car on vegetable oil, but am running low on stock

Anyone know someone who can either supply waste vegetable oil, or filtered veg oil?

Cheers

  • Lol. CL has seen it all now!
  • Spotty Parker's hair face ?
  • I did that for a year. Saved a fortune. Used to get it from tesco
  • What about a local curry house, or such? Might leave it out for you and could be a regular supply?
  • ring around a few local independent garages, they're usually quite good for finding out
  • It’s a cheaper fuel than either diesel or petrol and it could increase the power performance of your car. It is currently legal to walk into most major supermarkets in the UK and buy vegetable oil to use as a vehicle fuel with out paying any duty - provided this is for small scale use (See legality and fuel section). Specially refined used cooking oil is also a fuel option on many converted vehicles and this fuel can be currently purchased from suppliers with fuel duty included, for 90p/l.

Independent research has shown that rather than decreasing performance, cars that are converted to run on pure vegetable oil have an increased power performance as compared to diesel over most speeds.

However there are more important reasons than plain economics and performance for using vegetable oil as a fuel:

For all those who worry about pumping carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every time they get in a car, using vegetable oil as a fuel could be the solution to your dilemma. Chances are we will all get very old, and the planet a whole lot warmer, if we wait for the motor industry to gets its act together and produce a hydrogen or an electric car that really works and is cost effective. However running a diesel car on vegetable oil is an easily achievable reality for those wanting carbon neutral motoring today.
