There has been some criticism of young Rob lately, but on Saturday he infuriated me with the way in which he dealt with the one on one from which they scored. he had a fair amount of time to prepare, but merely came out a couple of metres and stood like a statue, totally vertical giving Showumni a chance which a 10 year old could have taken.
Have a look at the inside cover of Saturday's programme and you will see a shot of Keily showing how a Goalkeeper should react by spreading himself as big as he could to make it harder for the attacker. We have a full time Goalkeeping Coach, what is he doing all week ? Answers on a postcard !
To prevent too much flack coming my way, I do understand that spreading yourself in front of Showumni is not a great idea for your physical safety, but he chose the career.

The amount of times Elliott saves one on ones that he shouldn't be getting anywhere near and yet people slate him for this.
If one of our strikers had missed that chance they would have been destroyed on here yet we expect our keeper to make a wonder save everytime.
No one watched the league cup final winning goal or the third for Liverpool yesterday then?
I think Elliott did all of that well enough. The attacker is heavily favoured in that situation though.
Elliot can be criticised for certain elements of his game but one on one's is not one of them. There have been a few times, when he has done very well whether by making a save or making himself big and forcing the striker into a decison and missing.
It is clear Elliot does not like late Feb/March. Personally I think he was having a better season individually until the Exeter game.
Last year: Southend- howler, Milwall-bad game for all, Gills- mistake and injury
This year: Exeter- mistakes, Carlisle-bad game for all, Tranmere-injury.
Er....dropping him will not improve his confidence, it will make it worse!
Goalkeepers are coached to stay on their feet as long as possible and make the Striker make a decion, that's when they panic and make mistakes. Yes there are times when you should go to ground but that's usually when the the player hasn't got the ball under control or it's moving at a higher speed.
This scape goating is getting surreal. If you're going to moan about something at least have a little basic knowledge first.
I disagree. Taking him out of the firing line when his confidence is shot to pieces means he will have a chance to rebuild it in training/the reserves without the pressure of first team games making things worse. It happens quite regularly (i.e. a ‘keeper has a spell out and then comes back all guns blazing). We can’t afford to stick with a ‘keeper who’s making quite a few mistakes per game in the hope that he’ll eventually get it right, it’s far too important a position. I think it would also show Robbie that he can’t simply assume he’s no.1 and that there is competition for the place, he seems to perform much better when he’s on his toes, I think his best performances were when he was competing with Weaver for the jersey.
Not sure if he will be there tomorrow night because of injury.
