Are we going to get into the playoffs?

After a great start to his reign as Charlton Manager, Chris Powell's honeymoon period has started to fade, no wins in five games, and four defeats among them.

We are currently in seventh place seven points behind MK Dons, with a few games in hand.

What is everyones opinion on our hopes to get into the playoffs, or automatic promotion?

    Think we will miss out on automatic promotion. We will make playoffs, and hope we can pull it out the bag. Would be nice to get a good run of wins under our belts to put us in a fighting position for automatic promotion but really can't see where the consecutive wins are going to come from unless we sign cesc fabregas and Lionel messi within the next few days

    On current form Id say no. But if CP can find the right formula I wouldnt rule it out, however it would seem unlikely.

    5 games ago we were all looking at autos and looked assured of the play off's.

    Things change quickly, and a couple of wins is all it takes, but we've lost all form and confidence. Hopefully a deflected winner tomorrow night off of someone's backside will start to turn things around.

    I reckon we’ll continue our indifferent form for a few weeks whilst Powell gets it right, and then go on a storming ten game winning streak at the end of the season which takes us into the play-off’s as the form team, then we blow everyone away and take over Manchester in May winning our way back to the Championship.

    Tuesday's game won't decide it but if we lose it can't see us doing it. However I would put this as a "must not lose game" rather than a "must win"

    Ive loooked back at the last few years at what the sixth team have got. Last year was exceptional being 80 points. prior to that it was 76-76-75-71-71.
    So if we rule out last year and say we have to get 76 points then this means we need 28 points from 14 games. It may well be less than that as I cant see MK dons or Orient getting to 76. Nevertheless needs a good pick up on points.

    Interestingly we are still top of the average points per game against teams in the top half (despit H pool and carlisle having crept into the top half) but 17th against teams from the bottom half.

    So does that make it good news we have played only 13 against top half and 19 against bottom half - meaning we have 9 left agaist top half and only 5 against bottom half!

    A lot of work to do!

    No, mid table after we have played Southampton (twice), Bournemouth, Huddersfiled, Rochdale & Orient.

    we have a poor squad which is even poorer now we have injuries. The manager cant ever have been in this situation before and he cant ask his number 2 as he hasnt either. The new owners now have a another gamble do they attempt to bring in the best quality loan players on top wages(if they will come) or do they keep ALL the money and go for it next year ?

    I reckon so. Tuesday is a massive game as it could put us 4 points behind with games in hand. If we win that, we can go into Brentford on Saturday with a more positive view. Still got S'hampton to play twice too, and as pointed out by someone above our record against top half teams is fairly strong. COYR

    On a good day we have the ability but the curse of inconsistency means that we do not have enough good days. In fact we do not even have good matches. We have good halves.

    For that reason I say no.

    No and faced with another season in Div 3 season ticket sales will plummet despite price reduction and crowds will drop to nearer the 10,000 mark - CP to completely rebuild in summer with backing from the board - will need to see massive improvement in home performances to get the crowds back

    Tonight's game vs MKDons could be the game that determines the rest of our season. People are encouraged by the fact that we have to play Southampton twice - why? Do you honestly think we'll win either of those games, let alone both?

    Having to play Southampton twice means 6 lost points and a nail in the coffin for play-off chances - happy to be proved wrong though!
