I felt so depressed after Carlisle I didn't do this because it would have been 4's all round , pleased with the way we came back but we miss Jackson badly and also Anyinsah . Although sometimes Jackson appears to not do much his off the ball work and the fact he gives us a genuine left sided option makes us look more solid .Kyle Reid should have started IMO because for most of the game Llera was the only left footed outfield player.

Elliott 6 Made a good save just before H/T
Francis 6 Generally ok but bad mistake for their goal
Dailly 6 Looking tired at times . We need to rotate him in the run in
Llera 8 MOTM . I'm not his biggest fan but Tranmere is a game almost made for him . There's a pattern with Llera , he always starts his run in the team well and he distributes the ball superbly . He did lose possesion a couple of times but gets an extra mark for the superb free kick
Jenkinson 7 Another good game but he is not a left back
Racon 6 Had his moments but no more
Semedo 6 Looked slightly off form to me
McCormack 6 Average performance , alright as cover .
Wagstaff 6.5 Looked dangerous at times
Benson 6 Isn't that physical presence we need
Wright Phillips 6 Technically scored from Llera's free kick
Worner 6 Does not command the area . We need a Keeper on loan

  • Elliott - 6 He was ok.
Francis - 6 Shame about the mistake but otherwise untroubled and pretty assured coming forward. Beckham-like ball in 2nd half was superb.
Dailly - 6 He was ok and did well to win a few headers against the big lump. People moan about Doc's passing but Dailly's isn't the best. Gave it his all though.
Llera - 8 Hardly a misplaced pass, long or short. Won't look half as effective if the oppo play two up front but did well and defended when he had to. Free-kick was going fairly wide until BWP did what he does best but all of a sudden we at least had a set-piece threat.
Jenkinson - 7.5 Really good coming forward with the ball. Might well develop into a left back...who knows?
Racon - 6 He was ok 2nd half and kept possession well (same as Jackson would have done). Can't fault his effort but lacks a killer pass.
Semedo - 6 Some good passes and some not. As ever, seems to take a tiny bit more time than is necessary and that's probably what puts off manager's at the next level. A couple of pretty decent tackles.
McCormack - 5.5 Not in it first half but was better in the 2nd half. He actually makes good runs off the ball and finds space well.
Wagstaff- 6.5 Good 2nd half with one superb cross that was crying out for a Leaburn far-post header! Worked very hard and it was his best game for a while.
Benson - 5.5 Won't blame him for 1st half because there was no service but didn't get on the end of anything 2nd half when there was. Tried hard and the full game will do him good.
Wright Phillips - 6 Striker's finish. This bloke has real quality in front of goal. Just wish he'd still been on the pitch when that Francis ball came in late on...he'd have finished that.
Worner - 6 Made one very sharp reflex save at the near post (header).

Powell....Reid should've been on for McCormack with 20 left, if not earlier. Wonder why BWP came off? (there may be a perfectly good reason). The 2nd half performance will have encouraged him a bit. One shot on target in the whole game though is very poor (not really counting Wagstaff's blocked effort 1st half).

Dailly- 6 there striker was alot to deal with and he coped well enough
Llera- 8 He seems to come in play well for around 5 games then slowly drop in form but he made some excllent challenges today and great goal

Elliott - 4.5 - Not much to do, strugglked with what he did have to (dropped a cross and nearly let one in from distance after poor footwork).
Francis - 4.5 - Minus 1 for the terrible touch that lost possession prior to their goal, minus another 0.5 for the weak attempt to win it back. Otherwise thought he had a decent game and was a threat in attack in the second half. Continual sloppy mistakes mean he doesn't deserve his continuing record as a near ever present though.
Dailly - 6 - Solid and did his best to get thing rolling from the back. Did pretty well vs the massive Showunmi.
Llera - 7.5 - Committed performance with a point salvaging goal. Loved seeing him bomb forwards to try and get on the end of a cross from a Racon breakaway. His willingness to receive the ball to feet and look for forward passes (they don't always come off but at least they'rr actually aimed at someone!) adds a dimesion to our game. Such a shame uou always feel there's a rick just around the corner but that's the same with Doc.
Jenkinson - 7 - Really hope this lad keeps it up because he looks a proper all-round footballer. He's defensively sound, decent in the air, got a bit of pace, comfortable on the ball and happy to carry the ball. He's a bit one footed and subsequently we're a bit unbalanced in attack with him at left back, but crucially he hasn't proved a weak link at the back. Tough on Solly, but Jenks has to be first in line to get the right back slot if/when Frank is dropped.
Racon - 6.5 - bit quiet in the first half, grew into it in the second. Want to see 90 mins from him but he was most comfortable with the passing style and a lot of our good stuff went through him at somepoint. The ability is there, if Powell can get inside his head and keep him committed he can still do damage for us a centre midfielder.
Semedo - 5 - Poor first half - was too static and made some sloppy errors. Second half he got a bit better, aided by better movement in front of him and he even sprayed a couple of raking balls over their left back for Waggy. Shows he can do it - he just needs encouraging to work at it and try it more.
McCormack - 4 - Hardly ever available for a pass first half and gave it away when he did have it. Got a bit better in the second but not enough.
Wagstaff - 7 - Hard working and did his best to get involved in a poor first half. You always get the work rate, but he was beating his full back and got a couple of decent crosses in. He's still learning but I think he is continuing to improve. Could be a key player for us next season.
Benson - 6 - Link man role isn't totally natural to him and he just wasn't dropping off enough first half. Got more involved in the second and worked hard. Decent but unspectacular performance overall.
Wright Phillips - 5.5 - *Edit* Extra half mark for being in the right place to deflect Llera's free-kick, knew very little about the decisive touch though. Other than the goal didn't do much at all, some of his first touches were Akpo-esque.
Worner - 5 - Dropped one cross, flapped at another. Looked a bit flappy in general and didn't inspire any more confidence than Robbie has been. Better distribution from hand than Robbie though.
  • [cite]Posted By: Exiled_Addick[/cite]Semedo - 5 - Poor first half - was too static and made some sloppy errors. Second half he got a bit better, aided by better movement in front of him

Semedo's "sloppy errors" are caused by his dwelling on the ball and hesitating ........ because
of others' lack of movement and reluctance to show for the ball.

Lack of movement off the ball makes it so easy for opponents to close you down.
That's when you get caught in possession or forced hurriedly into playing the 'hospital ball', often resulting in the receiver of the pass giving the ball away cheaply.

Better off ball movement gives options to the player in possession, who can then be quicker and decisive with his decision making. Hence Semedo's improved 2nd half performance yesterday.
  • Exiled...how didn't BWP score? Are you saying the ball went straight in from Llera's free-kick? From where I was sitting, the ball was going a couple of feet wide and was diverted into the net by BWP. It's not even remotely Llera's goal.

I agree Oggy, but first half, when the back 4 were pushing up and carrying the ball out, Jose was just standing still on the halfway line instead of moving further up into space to offer an option to the the back 4. There were also some poor passes when he wasn't really under a great deal of pressure. Ally Mack was the main problem though, imo, as he was pretty much AWOL whenever Jose had the ball.

Haven't seen a replay yet Simo but if that's true then I'll have to reassess that comment. BWP still did naff all else, but if he gets a goal he's done his main job. His goals are obviously invaluable but I'd like to see more from him than just one moment of inspiration and then 89.9 mins of not a lot else.

*EDIT* Just watched the replay and it deflects off his chest. I'll accept it's factually incorrect to say he didn't score, but I'm not going to give him too much credit as he knew next to nothing about it. Right place at right time I suppose, but that's about it.

  • Elliott- 6 No chance with the goal
Francis- 5 Awful error, got better 2nd half but cost us 2 points ultimately
    Dailly- 6 Looked untroubled
Llera-8 Got involved, pinged some good balls in which got to their man, hopefully he'll score against his old club Tuesday
Jenkinson- 7.5 Gets better and better even on the left.
    Racon- 6
    Semedo- 6
McCormack-6 Was alot more involed 2nd half
Wagstaff-6- Seems to run in circles at times, when he tries to beat his man he's dangerous, wish he'd have confidence to do it more often
Benson-6- Worked hard, should have had a penalty
Wright Phillips-6 Finally we have the 20 goal a season striker we've been craving and then the rest of the side falls to pieces around him! Typical.
Worner-6 Actually made a really good save in the 2nd half, might not have been going in but it was good reflexes from close range.

Racon 6 a few decent touches, but not too much to shout about to be honest
    Semedo 6 did hid job
McCormack 6 much better but im not a fan

Francis - 4.5 - The giveaway goal, poor passing
    Dailly - 6 - Steady
Llera - 7.5 - Always plays well after a break. Another 3 games and he'll be off it again...
Jenkinson - 6.5 - Deserves his place - want to see him on the right when Bessone comes back in
Racon - 7 - Did well on the left
    Semedo - 7 - Another solid game
McCormack - 5 - Ok bit 'headless chicken' at times
    Wagstaff - 6.5 - 1st half awful. 2nd half big improvement
Benson - 6 - worked OK with SWP
Wright Phillips - 7 - Seemed to work harder

  • Elliot - 5: no chance with the goal, but did look a bit shaky. Made a good save.

Francis - 6: at fault for the goal, but much improved in the second half. Linked up well with waggy.

Dailly - 6.5: Solid, but not spectacular
Llera - 6.5: I dont think he played as well as most are making out. He made 2 very basic errors that could have lead to goals. His distribution was in general good.

Jenkinson - 7: played well, although played the striker onside for the goal. Seems to lack some defensive posistioning, but is young so will learn

Racon - 7: thought he played well, made some very good breaks and won us free kicks in dangerous areas. Should have tracked back more

Semedo - 5: played quite poorly imo, although did make some good tackles. He gave the ball away to much.

McCormack - 7: thought he played very well in the second half. He made many lung bursting runs foward that werent picked up by our players. i dont buy into the "mccormack is crap" stuff, he is a good player at this level.

Wagstaff - 6: qiute ineffective in the first half, but looked better in the 2nd half

Benson - 6: played ok, but thought he would link better with BWP than he did

Wright Phillips - 7.5: Played well, made some excellent runs which went un-noticed. Good touch for the goal. Very important player for us. His touch is getting better too.

Worner - 4. Looked shaky. Although, his kickin was good. But would much prefer a crap kicking elliot in goal.
