To those that have given up

edited March 2011 in General Charlton
I would just like to say to everyone that has CHOSE/CHOSEN to not go against Carlisle, Tranmere & some already calling it quits for the rest of the season :-

I think you are perfectly entitled to and good luck to you.

However, if we pick up form and reach the play offs I will be well p*ssed off, if I struggle to get a ticket, like last season at Swindon & all you quitters get in there first.

Yes, it's a massive struggle SUPPORTING the team at the moment, it's torture.

But as a loyal supporter I will continue to support them through thick and thin.

If we all gave up there would be no one there tomorrow.

I repeat, I'm not saying you're wrong, there isn't a right or wrong, but there is a greater chance of us achieving success if we all pull together.

No, but I will be there tomorrow, as always, supporting the team. I just wish that everyone else who posts on here will be as well IF THEY CAN. If they really can't for whatever reason fair enough, but if you choose not to, because we are struggling, then we will possibly be struggling for even longer.

    COYR !
  • I think most people are still expecting the play offs i am for starters
  • You're not exactly in an overwhelming majority though are you Nolly ?

  • Whether we win them though....
  • Well done covered end, I'll have you on the front line with me !

    Come on you reds
  • I'm with you CE and I'm still expecting the play offs.

This side has had good runs and bad runs all year. Let's hope we hit a good run just as the POs start and that carries us through.

  • Well said Covered End. Instant success aint gonna happen over night. Been going since god know's when, good, bad and shit times, but will all ways go. Up the Addicks.
  • Can't guarantee I'll be at every valley game because circumstances change but as long as I can scrape the pennies together I'll be there.
  • In my interview before the Carlisle game I confidently predicted that we'd win the play-off's at OT and I stand by that although I was certain we'd get auto's a few months ago. Fingers crossed the team clicks and we get a nice run of results and move onwards and upwards.

  • One thing I would like to say on the subject (I'll be bracing for all the abuse to come hurling towards me for this) is the fact that I feel slightly left out by the club in the past 2 months.

Yes The Valley is half empty, yes the atmosphere can be a bit flat, but I have been there for every home game bar 2 in the past 7 seasons, and therefore I have seen both of the above happen over time, but I am still there every week singing, shouting, jumping up and down and paying my way, so why am I of little importance in the clubs eyes?

Everywhere I look, from the Chairman, to the manager, to the #cafc twitter account, I am constantly hearing about the "good old days" when the ground was empty, and how we need to get those supporters back into The Valley. Now don't get me wrong, I am all for more support for the team etc. but I would like to know why they are trying their hardest and putting all their effort into getting old fans back. I'd like to know what the club is going to do to ensure that I stay. £50 off the season ticket next season, I'll admit, does help, but what about things like the food and drink prices when I'm here? Why are the stewards so rubbish? Why are there only 4 turnstiles open? Why can't I have the top to my bottle? Why can't the club offer me more deals on tickets and merchandise as acknowledgement for my loyalty to the club?

Surely the fans we still have are more important than the ones we may never see again?
  • Will be there and at Dar and Red, Rochdale, MKD, Bournemouth etc etc and definitely expecting a play off place
  • I'm fed up with it and am planning on missing a few home games,
luckily I have a mate to get my important tickets!
  • looking increasingly likely I'll not get a season ticket next year for only the second time in about 13 years.

Will probably go to a fair few matches still but need a bit of a break from it before I fall out of love with the game
  • I felt thoroughly pi**** off driving the 35 miles home on Tuesday and seriously contemplated doing something different at the weekend.

Needless to say I'll be there tomorrow or, looking at the computer clock, later today.

    I'll probably give you my play-off tickets S.... ;-)

    See you @ Cheltenham.
  • When the going gets tough......

    ...the tough DON't quit !

    Keep the faith PLEASE

I'll be there with you, Large.
  • If we give up on Powell at such an early stage, what hope is there? Not only have the players got to find the fighting spirit but the fans have to as well. Too many are just throwing in the towel and Powell is suffering because of what has gone on before he arrived. This is a new beginning and 12 points out of 24 is OK. With the players we have, did people honestly think he'd win 8 out of 8 or even six out of eight. In reality we are only 3 points behind where I hoped we would be considering the changes that have taken place. Stop piling pressure on the man so soon and lets show the press and the football world in general that we believe in his ability to eventually get us playing football the correct way and until such time we the fans are 100% behind him. That means getting behind the team and raising the noise levels when we fall behind rahter than booing.
  • Will be there for Daggers away,Southampton Home and Bornemouth away.Positive result today and we will be back on track challenging for the playoffs again. This aint the time to hold inquests about this season. There are still a lot of points there and imo the most important thing is that we are financially safe and stable again.

That's exactly how i am feeling. I will be going home and away as usual,as i have done for 50 years, till the end of the season.I will then see how i feel. As i have lost all enthusiasm for football in general and Charlton in particular.Am hoping that during the close season i will regain that enthusiasm and buzz i used to get. At the moment i feel like a boxer who has taken too many punches.

Fine words Queensland. It would have looked better out of the 8 games if there was a mixture of wins and draws and losses. Rather than 4 wins then 4 losses, which is a bit stark. All counts the same of course but somehow would seem more acceptable. I don't often think we are going to win but i have a good feeling about today.

Considering you are top of the food chain when it comes to away tickets, i'm sure you will be fine. Unless the club makes the same error, ie: Swindon. Never say never.

I will be there as usual today, but after tuesday i'm going to try and enjoy it, but not confident at all re the 3 points. Tranmere at 4/1 to win looks very big, unless there is a vast improvement.
  • P'raps someone should mention this to those that tell people to feck off on here and support another team because they don't like the other persons view.

Well said. Noticed that comment on another thread.
  • 8 games into Powell a cafc legends reign and people are quitting. Come on stick with us Rome wasn't built in 8 games. The 98 side wasn't built in 8 games. POWELLY will sort it out given time and support. Don't let the negativity win.
  • Bringing five visitors who have never been to a game. Be kind Charlton I'm trying to get new fans. American colleagues. Ian can't wait.

    East stand.
  • If you go regularly why would you struggle to get a ticket for the play offs?
  • You can't quit on watching Charlton. It's like crack. So moreish. And despite the cold sweats and mood swings, you always go back for more.
  • [cite]Posted By: Mortimerician[/cite]If you go regularly why would you struggle to get a ticket for the play offs?

It was because of the time restrictions & therefore the usual priority wasn't given for Swindon A. It was, if I remember correctly a S/T holder free for all, straight away.

Anyway, I was expecting a load of flack and haven't got any yet, so well done to everyone & keep your chins up, we will rise agin, we just need to support the team when they need it most & if we can't support them at least don't keep knocking them & booing.

It's our team, let's get behind them !

Chirpy - Going down to Cheltenham on Thursday evening (St Patrick's) for a few Guinness & will be at the races Friday - Gold Cup.

Exactly Richard. Three wins, three draws and only two losses out of eight and people would be saying it's been a solid start from Powell, but we'd still have the same 12 points!
Having said that we have to turn it around quickly starting today.
