Anyone read this book? ... just finished it, excellent if you have an interest in London ... particularly liked the chapters on development and tradition of music hall, theatre, cinema, music, restaurants, football, etc.
However, one incident in the book did stand out .. back in 1977 Suggs and a few of his mates were in a pub in Islington having a beer ... pub door opened and in walked 20 Charlton fans who after a few moments decided to teach the locals a lesson ... he describes it as a Wild West scenario and got out of the way in a corner. Once they had got their message acoss, the Charlton fans left and all calmed down.
Having been a regular away supporter in those days and part of the Covered End, I would have thought that I would remember such an incident ... but I don't. Has Suggs picked on the wrong fans here ... or did I miss something at the time?

Shouldn't this be in the guilty pleasures thread?
