Everyone needs to calm down!!

Ok the last 4 games have been awful, even the 4 we won before that we didnt exactly play well.....but people calling for powells head, saying that none of this lot can play football i feel are over reacting. And yes i agree that the current side do contain players who are not fit to wear the shirt (Mcoxo), BUT this is the same team that had us 5th in the league before powell took over, we beat swindon away, we've beaten Bournemouth, we've beaten p'borough 5-1 away! This team has showed in the past that it can perform. Yes we are going through a bad patch at the moment, and seriously need a win to halt this run, but this is league 1 football.....teams have bad runs. This run hasnt even put us in a considerably worse position than we were before, we are 4 points off play offs with 2 or 3 games in hand on most of the teams.

The most important thing now is for the fans to keep faith in powell, and get behind the players. Hopefully 1 or 2 good loan signings, and some inspiration from chrissy powell and we can turn this run around and get back in the mix for the play offs.

Come on, lets get behind the lads and get back to winning ways. COYR.

  • Well said Addickforlife! Couldn't agree more.
  • i havent been able to even look on here and i cant be arsed to open any of the threads the over reaction is going to be ridiculous.

I have wrote this season off so what will be will be
  • and another thing, will people stop saying they've written this season off already. What happens if, come August 2011 we lose 3 on the spin, playing badly, do we resign ourselves to relegation? Not my way, thank you. We have games in hand to make the play-offs for pete's sake, we have a new coaching team still implementing their ideas and we still have a squad of enough players to play around with to find the magic formula.

If SCP (yes, still Sir) thinks players aren't pulling their weight, or not getting to grips with it, he has plenty of time to drop them and give someone else a chance. There is still time for this Charlton side to find a spell of form. What's frustrating is that the same crap players are getting in the team even when they don't perform, it's beginning to be like watching England (ok, not that bad>)

People have been crying out for a creative midfielder, what does everyone think about trying Wagstaff in the middle of the park? He was our form player through till October, albeit on the wing, but it's the formation/shape that's badly in need of a change...
  • I will calm down until we can bring in a decent defender
  • Addickforlife........at last a thread with sense and a breath of fresh air today. My feelings and views exactly.

andree....I think what we "written the season off" group mean is we're not expecting promotion, great football and results etc this season, but see this as a new start and a rebuild that will take time. If we get promotion it's a bonus and of course welcome but a lot has changed and we're prepared to give things time to improve. We're not saying the seasons over 'cause we're crap and getting relegated.
  • I don't know why, but for some reason, I'm up for Tranmere at The Valley this saturday, they're not setting the world alight at all in all ways and it can't be thinkable to lose 5 in a row.-with a 20 goal a season striker.
  • Great post particularly the penultimate paragraph. Unfair as it may be it certainly didnt help PArkinson or the team getting on their backs and made watching games at home as appealing as a night in with Pat Butcher.
  • I'm calm, I've always been the optimist in my group of Addicks.
I still think play-offs are a certainty and promotion is possible.
We are Charlton, super Charlton. And we are too f**king good for this tin pot league.
  • Addickforlife...you are far too positive to be posting on here. Go read some of the recent ones would you, to see how it is done.

    Well said, mate.

At last a bit of perspective.

  • I have not looked on this site for over a week as I think people need to put things into perspective. You could already hear the rumblings the other night of people almost glad we are doing poorly so they can moan....they love it.

Some chap next to me even starting slating Powell's suit! ....I mean come on.

As I left some guy was shouting out at Powell saying useless. Its his first job...shock horror we have tried some different formations and they have not paid off! Its simply the players that are not playing well. Just keep calm and keep the faith....we are supporters not managers!
  • Saturday is a big game, we, chris, the players need a result!!
I will be there backing the team all the way...er...unless we are 3 down with 5 mins to go, then I will be walking head down up Floyd Rd, mumbling, 'what a shower of shite', but looking forward to the next one????????????????????????
  • Great post - but it is the nature of these boards to moan - for some what else is there?
See no reason we shouldnt still get a play off place (and the bookies still think we will) and then who knows
  • I'm looking forward to the game and Bournemouth away too! Cant make the daggers or MK.
