Charlton commitments.

edited March 2011 in General Charlton
Having read some of todays posts where some members stated how many years they have been coming down to the valley it got me thinking about the kind of commitment we all make to the club despite some well below par performances!

What have you put to one side or even cancelled in the past as Charlton playing took priority instead.
Sure there are some good ones out there.

My own(not too exciting to begin with) is that i chose cafc ahead of triple pay over-time at work one weekend before Christmas last year could of done with the cash but missing a game seems not to be an option.

  • Waited for fixture list to come out before booking wedding.
  • I kicked Mothers day into touch 3 or 4 seasons ago, but I wont be doing that again!!!!
Missed a really good mates wedding a few years ago, just went to the evening, they got married on the last day of the season, it was the season we sent Palace down. His new missus didnt really talk to me for about 6 months, but they have split up now, so thats all right!!
The whole family wentt to see 'We will Rock You', the other halfs step dad bought everyone tickets to treat us, caused a massive stir when me and the kids swerved it and went to The Valley!!
  • Cancelled on my girlfirend to have dinner with her grandparents and family at christmas to go brighton.

  • Cost me a relationship...She didn't like football. I didn't like shopping
  • Went to the Valley on 24th February, 1979 to watch Keith Peacock score in a 1-0 win over Leicester whilst my wife was in labour at Greenwich & District Hospital. My Son was born the next day and both he and his Mother are still avid Charlton supporters some 32 years later.

All true fans get married in the close season.

June, July and early August are the only acceptable dates for a wedding.
  • That reminds me ...

Elderly couple go to every match, home and away. They are permanent fixtures. Everyone knows them.

Then, one week, the old boy turns up at the match alone. No sign of his wife. A fellow fan asks if she is ill.

"Worse than that." says the old boy. "She died last week."

"That's terrible" says the fan. "When's the funeral?"

The old boy turns .. looks at his watch with a tear in his eye.

    "Round about now."
  • Only had hour and half sleep on Tuesday after being up since 4am to work, to go to watch us play, before going back to work at midnight. 28 hours later I could sleep properly.

    Wish I hadn't now tbh.
