Having witnessed Eddie Firmani and Theo Foley, two popular ex-players who were Charlton legends in their own right, but subsequently became nothing more than average Managers when taking over the reins, the question has to be asked whether being an ex-Charlton hero is the right qualification to manage the Club? If it is of some comfort, Mike Bailey had some limited success, but didn't stay around long enough to build upon this. The jury is still out with regards to Chris Powell and I sincerely hope that he can quickly turn things around or fear that he may just become another statistic in the ex-Charlton Player/Manager scenario.

Significant investment is now needed by the new board if they want to see a return on their money , i would feel even worse watching last nights performance and lack of effort , if i had sunk millions into this club , although i guess its all relative , its going to be a bumpy journey , but i do hope we can get it right , my kids have gone from being excited to totally deflated , and not wanting to go , because the players didn't appear to care last night , (especailly the 3rd goal) football shouldn't be like that , i can take the losing ( i'm a charlton fan , you get used to it!)
I sincerely hope that instead of shopping at Netto's for new players , we will be able to shop at Waitrose instead , it will really test how good our scouting network for new players really is ,or whether that too needs upgrading like the scoreboard , especially ones that will want to come and play their hearts out for this club , but also have technical ability , and take pride in wearing the shirt , oh for a younger version of Mark Kinsella in midfield , he helped drag this club up by the bootlaces in my opinion , to two promotions, we could do with someone like him now.
