Charlton intrigue

Back in January Digger mused about the intriguing talk among Charlton Athletic fans that the wealthy property developer Kevin Cash was behind the recent takeover. That buyout led to the instalment of Michael Slater as shareholder-chairman of the club, whose ultimate parent company is held in the British Virgin Islands, where shareholdings are never disclosed. Now more evidence emerges of Slater's links to Cash. A former employee at a property belonging to the Cash family is heading to an employment tribunal in Reading today, where Slater will be appearing. Digger understands that Slater denies he acts on behalf of Cash, rather he says he is acting on behalf of a management company with which the wealthy 47-year-old has close connections.

  • Has Jiminez made or had a interview about why he's invested in Charlton yet? Poor show really imo, the O/S could have a little interview with him.
  • I think we should concentrate on football.

I agree, without the guys who are at the helm now, we'd be in even more shite than we are!

I recall Slater at one point saying that Jimenez won't talk to the media and that Slater would be the public face of the takeover....
  • And here are details of the employment tribunal...

    Wheres my roast chicken!?
  • This artcile about the case metions Slater

"In another meeting later that week Michael Slater, an associate of Mr Cash, shouted “You’re fired” three times at the couple, alleging they had stolen a lap top computer and car belonging to Mr Cash.

  • Pity the Guardian don't spend as much time and space reporting about us on the football field as they do muck raking about our owners/possible owners. (not that there is a great deal to report on that front admittedly!).
  • Sounds like a pretty disgusting individual.....

  • I have no evidence, but looking at all the various reports since the takeover, and information that we have a "seriously wealthy" backer, I'd be willing to bet that Cash is indeed the money-man behind Michael Slater.

That doesn't excuse "boorish" behaviour, although there are often two sides to wrongful dismissal cases.

I like what I've seen of Slater so far, so I hope this case gets settled to everyone's satisfaction so that that Cash can resume his low profile and Slater can focus on Charlton.
  • He doesn't sound like a very patient or generous individual.

Actually it's in the Mail and Express so you can read it in safety
  • Yeh, safe in the knowledge that it probably contains very little truth....

He is... Maybe he should invest some of his wealth in it...

"I know it's sinking now, but it could be a very good boat if only someone like you were to buy it and then pay for some repairs...you could have yourself a bargain!"
  • I forgot we're Charlton and therefore must be grateful we still have a club and that the debt is taken care of...God forbid those of us who ask for anything more....
  • Her husband should have given him a slap.

  • I can see his point of view though. I sacked the wife last night when she served up dinner 10 minutes late :-)

Your (now ex) wife has asked me to represent her at the employment tribunal and I will be using this post as evidence of your callous treatment of her.

  • [cite]Posted By: spiritof1947[/cite]So the guy who really owns us is a tosser? .

No, a person who has some links to Slater and who is rich maybe a tosser if you believe the Daily Mail

There is no evidence to say he is one of the owners whatsoever just a lot of conjecture and guessing.
  • [cite]Posted By: spiritof1947[/cite]So the guy who really owns us is a tosser?

    He's one of the 80%
  • I'd be pretty pee'd off if somebody I trusted nicked a lap top and a car I owned but didn't know I owned it.
  • There's a lot of conclusions being jumped to on this thread.

We don't know if Cash is involved with CAFC and we don't know the truth of the incident reported in the Daily Mail.

So people should calm down a bit before they start slaggin either him or Slater off - we simply don't know the facts of the matter. If every claim made in a court was automatically assumed to be true, then our prisons would be empty for a start.
