What has happened to our club??? I rang the training ground to confirm the reserve game was on. I was told I was not allowed to watch they don't play for the public. After last night and the last couple of years you think they would try and keep the fans on side. They will b lucky to get anyone watching the first team soon let alone a reserve game on a Wednesday afternoon.
think it's a number of reasons. If they were playing Arsenal and 500 people turned up what would they do with them ? Also, normally triallists play which we may want to keep quiet for some reason. This has been going on for two seasons now so hardly a new issue. Hasn't bothered you before otherwise you'd know this.
This game was arranged by Gillingham to look at their 2nd year scholars before decisions are made on them, so I imagine the reason for 'closed doors' is also to stop scouts and agents having a look at them.

Stavinrou?
I'd personally like to see Mambo given a game alongside Dailly
At the moment i dont see anybody from the Under18s coming into the first team in our problem positions.Callum Harriott is good but a wide player. Harry Osbourne is a good prospect at centre half but a couple of years short. Stavrinou, Davisson, Tuna, Perkins and definately Mambo are just not good enough.Cousins is the only other one on the horizon but at right back, a position we are well blessed with Solly,Francis and Jenkinson. Cousins would make a good centre half if he was a few inches taller and bulked up a bit.
I watched the U18s on Saturday especially the performance of Freddie Warren and was very disappointed with him. I think he has got something about him, but not ready for the first team.
Cousins is good enough in my opinion to get a game at CH. May not be the tallest but is great on the ball and has pace. Agree Mambo is not good enough.
Jordan Cousins is definately not ready for the first team yet - too inexperienced and it would do more harm than good. Let him develop - he's still 16, but a good prospect. It could totally destroy his confidence.

I am not being funny Large but how many times have you seen Cousins? I have watched him about 20 to 30 times. Centre forwards at U18 level cause him problems in the air so how do you think someone like Enoch Showumni would do against him? Agree with you has pace to burn and is cultured on the ball. Would hate to see his career go backwards by being put into a srtruggling team too soon.

How did Tuna do dickplumb.......
His contract is up at the end of the season and I know the lad, and his family, he seems to have faded in the past couple of seasons!. at least on the Charlton front, local lad I have to register an interest I am biased as I know him and the family well, so i am bound to think he is good enough, but I get the feeling........
Tuna hasnt played for the U18s for a while, so not able to judge him recently. Isnt he on loan to Aveley. I would like to say he is good enough and will be offered a new contract but cannot see it. Can see him doing fairly well in non league football. Has certainly got an eye for a goal.

Parky seemed to rate him a year or two back. He played him in the Championship albeit as a sub.
He seemed very lightweight to me, which was hardly surprising given his age, but if he's developed a bit of strength in the interim and has a decent attitude then SCP might take a look at him. I assume SCP won't have seen him if he's been at Aveley.
Tam on target

Tamer Tuna was on target to help loan side Aveley reach the Essex Senior Cup final on Monday night.
The striker's fifth goal for the Millers set up a 2-1 win against Southend United reserves at Mill Field, to book a showpiece final place.
Fast-starting Aveley were two goals up after the first 16 minutes with Tuna, who netted a hat-trick to knock out Canvey Island earlier in the competition, opening the scoring.
Seems as though Tamer is still getting the goals Len/Dick albeit at Aveley.......
As I stated I am biased , but can we really let a Charlton forward go without being given a proper assessment by Powell.
He could be a useful player as he plays behind the centre forward, or did!. I agree that he needed to 'strenghthen up' but when was the last time a Charlton player scored a hat trick! albeit a this level......
On Cousins I agree he's not strong enough yet. Would be targeted in the air by the opposition. Remember when Pardew played Wagstaff too early?
Wondered if Stavrinou might get a chance. Second year as a pro now so hard to see him being here next season unless he makes some sort of impact on the first team.

Not always easy wen u work.
Charlton: Worner, Solly (Fox 68), Osborne, Mambo, Morris, Harriott (Jordan 61), Warren, Stavrinou, Davisson, Tuna (Perkins 46), Popo (Azeez 68). Subs (not used): Ajayi, Gough.
Selftaught, are you related to Alex?
nice one.
Would be nice to know when the ressies games are on in advance in case people want to sneak in or watch from the footpath.
I know there is no public access but you never know.
True but not great to come into a struggling side.
