  • Dangerous game, waiting to see what division we're in. Surely Jenkinson isn't the only player he'd want to keep regardless of the division we find ourselves in? Please God not another new team shipped in over the summer!

    Racon
    Semedo
    Dailly
    Fortune
    Llera
    Youga
    Jenkinson
    Solly
    Stavrinou
    Anyinsah
    Tuna

    Fry (loan)
    Bessone (loan)
    Eccleston (loan)

    then the kids:

    Mambo?
    Perkins?
    Davisson?

not to mention the 2nd year scholars

I'm assuming that Worner, Reid, Jackson, McCormack, Benson and Abbott all signed 2 year deals... with the O/S change the old news articles from pre-FL days appear irretrievable.

Simon Francis definitely did, as did Gary Doherty.

So who are the other 15?
    - Racon, Semedo, Dailly, Youga I can immediately think of, but the others?

I presume a fair few reserve team players?
  • Just beat me to it.

Good news. Wonder if Powell sees room in the squad next season for both Jenkinson and Solly.

Most players only have a contract for 1 or 2 years so it's not surprising. Just the way it should be at this level in most cases.

Reid was apparently only got a 1 year deal, think it was the SLP that mentioned it.

    Anyinsah probably
    Stavrinou
    Worner possibly.

With Jenkinson on a 1 year deal I'm sure Tuna, Perkins, Davisson and Mambo are as you say.

I think Solly is out of contract at the end of the season as well.

Not sure whether Doc signed for 1 or 2 years.

EDIT: Same applies to Reid, Francis and McCormack. I know BWP signed 18 months.

Dangerous game signing players on long contracts ie Youga and Moutakill who then eat up wages and don't play.

If we go up we'll want better players.

If we stay down (which people keep saying is now suddenly OK and not a problem!!!!) then we can off load high earners and/or re-sign them on lower wages.
  • Sorry for amount of editing to the list, i've been updating as I went along so previous comments may look out of place... apologies!

Yea, but we've got loadsamoney now!
  • I think Robbie and Waggy both have another year and expire in 2012.

    Definitely true.

    Just updated the list now.

The questionables are - Mambo, Perkins, Davisson, Tuna [who I'm assuming all end this summer] and Jackson, Benson, Reid, Abbott, Worner, McCormack [who I'm currently assuming don't]
  • From what I remember Benson and Abbott were announced as two year deals, Reid's definitely wasn't mentioned (and as I said the SLP suggested he was on a 1 year deal). Not sure it was mentioned for the other 3.

Adding the 4 youngsters to your list that makes 14. So it's about right, with probably 1 or 2 of the above. It does say "around 15".

    You reckon?
  • I'm pleased to see we are trying to keep hold of Jenkinson. Could be a good future prospect.

Didn't the club say before the takeover they were trying to negotiate deals with Racon and Semedo..???? Nothing seemed to come out of that since the takeover.
  • Looks like Solly has dropped down the keep list.

I feel for Solly. A longterm injury with a 1 year contract does him no favours.

I've only seen him at The Valley in the first team and I like what I've seen. He is physically very small though and that could count against him. Powell should know what it takes to be a good full back though so hopefully Chris has had and will get a fair crack of the whip now he is approaching fitness before the decision is made.
  • Solly may be pretty good, but from what I have seen of Jenkinson he's the better prospect. He's tall, quick, always looks for the ball and I would even go as far as to say he was our best passer of the ball on Saturday, not to mention the two cracks at goal he had.

Not really - I have as much idea as you (or possibly less), but maybe the club has a bit more money and doesn't have to be quite so tight.
  • I would get semedo signed up asap (no matter what league we are in) but perhaps the man himself may want to wait to see where we are next season...maybe he will be moving on...

  • Good luck to Jenks - I really like the look of him

Really elegant player with a decent touch
    Won some headers
    Comfortable on the ball

If he had Francis' crossing technique he'd be a player and a half!

Could be asolution at centre back in a while though.
  • Also Jenkinsons twitter page states he's a dead ball specialist.....
