If your clients are Chinese, they may be sick of always being wined and dined at a Chinese restaurant. I once tried a vile pizza in Beijing, was better to try the local places; maybe a Chinese delegation would fancy something more local to London...not suggesting what though.
Always found the food at Won Kei in Chinatown exceptional, and very cheap, especially if you want to try something adventurous. However service is abrupt and the place doesn't appear to have been decorated since the 70s, all part of it's charm, but I wouldn't pick it as a location for a long celebratory dinner.
Dunno about taiwanese squire but shanghai blues in high holborn is very good and very upmarket. Imperial city is good as mentioned on another post though full of city types.

Food is the best in Chinatown but your right about the lack of a smile!! Hoho! Miserable!
Also decent and a bit more business like is the restaurant on the 23rd floor of the Hilton in Paddington - oriental (Japanese/Chinese fusion they call it i think)...can't remember the name but food was good and views great.
won keis is chinatown's equivalent of macdonalds (insomuch as it's fast food). great for a quick cheap meal (cash only) and laughing at the rudeness of the staff.
gerard's corner is my favourite restaurant in chinatown, and it's on the corner of gerard street if you're wondering....

Or depending on how much you want to entertain them, try Tamarai in Drury Lane Covent Garden. Restaurant, bar and club.
