Rochdale coaches

edited January 2011 in General Charlton
As people who tried to travel to Saturday are aware, we had a problem because we were one passenger over capacity.

As usual most people were patient and sensible while we addressed the issue, for which thanks.

They may like to know that we have tracked the cause. A passenger who was listed as a solo traveller on the stewards' list had turned up with two coach tickets for the game at Bexleyheath and because two people had failed to appear at the Dartford pick-up both were accommodated, even though the coaches were fully booked.

However, it turned out that the Dartford passengers had gone on to Charlton to catch the coach up, which left us one over. Hence we had to appeal for a volunteer to go by train at the club's expense.

We've now discovered that the person with the two tickets had cancelled one of them shortly after the original game was postponed.

Thus far we have never required people to return cancelled coach tickets before we refund, because unlike match tickets there hasn't been a problem of people using them. In this case, we're assuming that the person concerned had simply forgotten that he'd claimed a refund.

This combination of circumstances, with the coaches being full, has given us food for thought, but for the record it wasn't down to carelessness on the part of the steward or the organisers, as it seems a minority chose to assume.
