Tom Morris was the man that took photos at the time of this match, must say i have many of his photos hanging in my football room at home .If he still has the negs he is your man .
one of those where you had to be there. Went by coach, jimmymelrose bunked off school early, outnumbered but fun. Racing back to the coach afterwards and straight into work at about 2am to finish off the overnight computer run. Stopped in the Old Kent Road at about 7am on way home to buy the papers to make sure I hadn't dreamt it. Happy days indeed.

Did I really bunk off school early? I can't believe Mum let me do that. Wasn't it during half term?
Whatever the case, I can safely say that none of my classmates ever experienced anything like that. The race back to the coach to escape the Leeds fans was both scary and exhilarating.
Remember this first ever play off final as if it were yesterday. Hard to believe anyone under forty wouldn’t even know we made history that night. So many heroes played their hearts out that evening.
When John Sheridan’s free kick hit the back of the net, I was convinced that was it. But we had some real characters in that team and I shouldn’t have been surprised by the comeback. The only disappointment was that all three goals were scored at the opposite end, so didn’t fully appreciate that the winner came from a perfectly worked free kick routine that the players involved must have worked on for hours. That night is in my top five all time favourite games.

Still my favourite ever. I know I was hoarse at the end of it. Great game (we deserved to win in normal time) but what a finale!
I was at all the play matches in 87 - Elland Road was scary - St Andrews was a great evening, albeit rather dangerous post match - thankfully I was 16 so I could pretty fast back then !!!

Back to The Valley, all three play-off ‘finals’, I don’t think anyone can argue with those four, the fifth is up for discussion, though.

I know almost every word of this had it on VHS and watched it every night after school... obsession...
I only realised that after posting , seems strange to only show the Leeds goal .

This is good. There are some other good videos here too. Just watched the half time of the 'last match' at The Valley.

Those games were the business and the St Andrews' match is easily the tops of all time for me.
