What is wrong with our fans?

edited January 2011 in General Charlton
So looking through the threads, we booed Abbot before he kicked a ball, and we booed Francis when he failed to get a cross in..

So what is wrong? We provide a situation where we have a new board, we finally have some money so instead of selling players we are attempting to strengthen, we have the return of a legend who was a player at our clubs recent peak, we get a 2-0 win and our fans are still booing...

What is wrong, what is it with these people?

What can we do about it, apart from caving some blokes skull in publicly?

How to we erradicate this from the Valley?

I think it's endemic in all fans at all levels not just us. Maybe some people live such frustrating lives that it doesn't take much for the bile to surface within them.
  • I didnt boo Abbott, I was singing "We've got pavel abbott"
  • Suppose someone has to sing his name I call him the polish donkey
  • I didnt here him be boooed in the west.
  • [cite]Posted By: Shopshire addick[/cite]Suppose someone has to sing his name I call him the polish donkey
    Why do you?
  • There were definitely a few people booing in the North when he came on. Idiotic.
  • Said it before and I'll say it again, anyone that boos our own team or players is an idiot.
  • Well come on, there must be someone from the north or the west or wherever who booed, face up...

    Let's here the explanation...

    Explain yourself...
  • Thought it was a poor performance by the fans overall yesterday, poor turnout and no atmosphere for our supposed 'hero' new manager.
  • I really don't think too many people booed, didn't hear anything from L block. As for why they booed, probably because the team were playing well, lots of people really like what Aniyansah brings and ultimately Abbot is utterly shocking. I take it you haven't seen him play.

  • Mascott88 why u getting wound up abt it if fans want to boo him they cani choice not to clap the polish donkey on the pitch. We won so get over it
  • And let's be honest, booing before he's kicked a ball in the match is in otherwords booing the substitution, which is booing the manager's decision.

So for everyone wondering when Powell would first get booed - sounds like a handful of muppets started yesterday!
  • the booing caught me by surprise really, wasn't expecting it at all. i thought scp was right putting him on at that time too.

@Se9 Yes I have seen him play, only on TV as my "live " game was called off by that knob Andy D'urso... I saw him versus Leyton Oreint and Swindon, as well as all the highlights and full games on CAFCTV ... Ive also listened to every league game this season...

and it is quite clear the bloke is basically toilet, he looked unfit and seems to have the pace of a broken down wheel barrow.. I was amazed he pulled that volley off against Swindon...

and with Anyinsahs injury problems I can see why Powell took him off....

all of this though is NOT THE POINT is it .. the point is booing your own players cannot be anything other than negative, as highlighted by Peter Reid and countless other managers... it was just too much to ask from these gutless muppets to stick a plug in it for one game and see if we can build a base to move forward...

It is absolutely pathetic that people can boo their own players before they have kicked a ball andd call themselves "supporters" ...

Not welcome and also cowards, we wont see one person own up on here...

By the same token isnt it my choice to critise the booers, who have done an exceptional job of making the valley toxic for a long time, we do a terrifc job of bringing in a very positive coach, lay it on a plate and they still have a cry and start booing..

maybe you should just get over it shrop and maybe look at another thread.. ;)
  • But I think the reason no one will own up on here is because I think we're talking about 20 people out of 16,000 - that's a one in a thousand ratio. Also in fairness I've heard Abott booed at away matches, by people who follow us up and down the country, to say people aren't welcome before you know who it was, what their motivation was etc is madness.
  • Oh, and D'Urso is a muppett. Can I boo him next time he comes to the Valley :-)

Well im interested to hear there reasoning and have a debate...

Becasue all I can see is it being a massive negative, as highlighted by opposing managers on several occassions...

    yes you can!!!!!

You can also throw that bloddy great big pitch hairdryer at him for leaving me stuck in bloody Packhan when he cancelled my first game since spurs at home and relegation... git!
  • I was in the upper west and heard no booing and you can usually here a pin drop there, so it can only have been a few special needs

  • Block N North Upper. Didn't hear any booing at all. Stands to reason that in a crowd of 16,000 you'll get at least one drunken idiot, personally I wouldn't worry about it. Atmosphere was a bit flat 1st half, but much better second.

Didn't hear one single boo, thought the atmosphere was good. Mountains moleshills springs to mind.
  • Didn't hear it myself, but I did here a Pavel Abbot chant when he came on!
  • Didn't hear a boo.
  • I dunno, you go for one well deserved slap up meal at the Oxo tower and tweet the fans just to keep them informed and look what happens....
  • [cite]Posted By: mascot88[/cite]Not welcome and also cowards, we wont see one person own up on here...

Sounds like it was only a very few people who was booing, maybe they don't even post on here?
  • The only boo's was for the refs.
  • Unfortunately we do have a few morons who follow the club, like those that persist in singing 'the family song', which is puerile rubbish. It's about time they realise how stupid they sound - though they're obviously too stupid to recognise that.
  • [cite]Posted By: Rommagic[/cite]The only boo's was for the refs.

    Nope.
  • Upper Covered End Block L ie in the middle.
I heard no booing and nor did my mates. This is a non issue, move on.
