beware Plymouth

edited January 2011 in General Charlton
I know we are all getting excited about Saturday, and rightly so, but I'm sure Plymouth will be coming to look to piss on our parade. Scored three cracking goals away at MKD tonight, a team higher in the league than us (despite 11 defeats) and in the process have put themselves only a couple o points behind us. Amid all the hype and hysteria let's not underestimate them and think we just have to turn up and party.

Comments

  • dont think anyone thought that anyway to be honest. Just cause we've got a new manager isn't gonna make us forget how useless we've been on the pitch recently.
  • Plymouth are on the up at present. I hope its a good game with the right result. I am sure CP will have the team fired up!
  • Agreed, Large.

Inconsistancy is their watchword, but on their day they can get a result - especially away from home recently.
Good win at MK Dons; previously they gave Huddersfield a scare (2-0 up and played 80 minutes with 10 men, before losing 3-2).

The away game before that, they were losing 2-0 at Bristol Rovers, before a fightback to win 3-2.
    Not to be underestimated.

Their manager is Peter Reid, of course - old warhorse, been round the block a few times..

Incidentally, the Home Park pitch was relaid last summer with one of these 80% grass composition pitches.
Apparently the Argyle players hate playing on that surface, hard and unyielding.
  • They will turn us over. Absolute nailed on Charlton fact. I will sell my Granny if it aint true (offer comes with a shovel...)
  • A think another draw to be honest.
  • A draw or something won't see me too sad at all, I'm just hoping for one thing. Full commitment and a NINETY minute performance, for as far as I can remember we turn up one half not the other.. not sure if it's fitness, concentration or just inability to perform for 90.. I'll guess 1-1 after we take the lead in a dream start.
  • No point getting jittery about it, and making the atmosphere tense and nervous .......with the players afraid to make a mistake because the crowd is on edge.

This could be a great and memorable day in the club's history....... a Prodigal Son is coming home!

So let's make it so!!! ......and give Powelly a good homecoming, a welcome to really lift the energy in the ground.
In fact, let's treat the match like we did when we returned to The Valley !
  • Here's something you might not know:

The number 12 shirt in the Plymouth Argyle squad is always ........"Green Army".

No Argyle player ever wears the shirt.
At Home Park, the crowd is considered to be the 12th man.
  • Yeah was awfully embarassing to hear when at Home Park lol..
  • Could this be a meaningless fixture if Argyle are wound up before the end of the season?

  • Plymouth have previously won away from home 3 time this season, each time they have lost their next away game so Saturday will be a carnival-like stroll in the park.
  • Have this feeling Plymouth will sneak a 1-0 win :(
  • How many supporters will they bring to our ground?.
  • Dont tell anyone but i have a horrible feeling about sat. Please powelly and the boys dont let us down.
  • Plymouth are toilet. If we don't beat teams like them then we don't deserve get promotion.

CP WILL get of to a winning start. FACT.

Oh how I hope this comment will not come back and haunt us on Sat evening, for the record Plymouth cannot be that bad looking at some of their results.
  • Did anyone see their three goals last night? Can't remember when we score one like that

Some people on here sound like my eldest son who, unfortunately, supports Manure and before every game he tells me that "he's worried about this game, think we're gonna lose today etc", knowing full well there probably going to win as usual. He only spouts all that crap so in the unlikely event they do lose he can deflect the piss taking by saying "I told you we would lose".

They've paid the Inland Revenue, so I think it's now a non issue (this season)

  • I expected a huge demand for autographs following my 2-2 correct forecast last saturday but it seems nobody noticed.
Don't make the same mistake this time, mark my words. Have'nt had time to calculate correct score, but Charlton to win EMPHATICALLY.
  • I don't think anyone thinks that Plymouth will roll over and let us tickle their bellies anyway, we will have a tough game and nobody is under any illusions.

That's good news - I used to work with the Plymouth fan and he was a nice guy.

[cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]having played 3-4 more games than most teams in this division and with a goal dif of -7 make no mistakes this is a pub side turning up at the valley
Any sort of performance from our over trained twitterers will see a comfortable home win

    And this
  • Question is

Would Large have posted this if Parky was in charge?

Behind us in the league, 3 games in hand, lost at home to Oldham last week...

We should beat them at home, no excuses
