...people are very much still thinking promotion this season is a necessity or even expected. Or at the very least we should be challenging strongly?

I'm very much of the view that if it happens this season it's a very welcome bonus but with all the recent changes i'm happy for this now to be a half season of working things out and getting a strong bases from which to mount a strong challenge next season.
I don't get the impression that not getting promoted this year would be disasterous for the club as it appears that the takeover has stabalised things for a while. If it was that imperative then i don't think the board would have appointed Chris as manager.

Yes we want to see improvements to the team and performances but that is lkely going to take time. Who knows, things might fall right into place and we go on a great run and get promoted and ofcourse that would be excellent. However unless lots of money is spent, and even then it isn't simple, the likely hood is steady progression. Which will also give us a better footing for staying in the Championship when we get there.

I see this as a great opportunity for us to relax for once and get behind the team and management and see how things pan out without the nervousness of expecting/demanding promotion. In short enjoy ourselves again.
I'm actually looking forward to the forthcoming footballing months in a way i haven't done for a long time.

  • We're in a great position, just outside the pack with half the season to go. If we can win a few in a row we'll be right back up there with the momentum behind us. I think we should really go for it whilst the feel good factor is still high. Now could be our best chance of getting out of this league, providing we sign a defender with some pace and a goalscorer (Ecclestone)????
