  • I hope these 18-20,000 people are all mentally prepared for the possibility that we won't win 9-0.
  • Got my tickets - first trip to The Valley this season - my little 'uns are making first ever trip to see Charlton at home, they are well excited - really hope they are not left thinking they should support Chelsea like all their school mates.

I need a cracking game that we win with a rocking stadium.
  • Don't know if it's much of an indication but most of the Valley express routes are sold out. I'm gonna have to get the train. Boooooo.
  • :-) reckon I've hit the nail on the head here when the masses turn up, few day trippers and few coming to pay their tributes to the legend himself..

    hope it's around 19k anyway!!
  • 18765 charlton fans

    350 Plymouth fans

  • 20135 and a delayed kick off
  • Before people get carried away, the 18,000 "sold so far" figure given above is not accurate. Tickets have been selling faster this week than usual and the crowd will be up, but we were around the 14,500 mark yesterday morning.

Excluding aways we typically sell 1,500 on the day.
  • Is that 14,500 Charlton only? So potentially plus another 800 Plymouth?
  • 16838 for us
    11838 for palarse
  • Approximately 17,394
  • how many was it ?
  • 16,600. About 700 Plymouth.

  • Hmm. What conclusions can we draw from that then?

Well.. I think I'm right that we have never had more than 18,000 home fans in this division, even for the play off game against Swindon. So, pretty decent. And if we keep winning and playing like apparently we did, we will be up there, and more people will come especially for Southampton and other big games.

Am i the only one who thought that there was far more than 16,600 there today? The east was mainly full the Upper north was packed and apart from the Plymouth fans the rest of the ground much more populated than normal. I would have said there was 18-19 k there today.

No you're not. Thought there was at least 17500 there today. You can usually tell from East & West which were defo more populated today.

Sorry Beds but the East was nowhere near full, I sat in the NW corner today opposite the east and apart from the middle two blocks either side of the half way line there were plenty of empty seats.

Your right but that was the only part of the East that had a large amount of empty seats. The SE corner was packed which in not normal at all.
  • Packed with a lot of freebies I'm afraid. Disappointed with size of crowd, but I would say 2,000 more than we would have got.
  • How many freebies were dished out?. There looked like loads of school age groups towards the Jimmy Seed.

Never believed the crowd would exceed 16k.
  • The West wasn't full, indeed the upper area nearest to The JSS was virtually empty.

I thought we would get around 17.5 18k so a little disappointed. The club was clearly expecting less than there were because we had to queue to get into the East and they opened some more turnstiles about 2.50pm.
  • I wonder if the apparent extra numbers we all thought were there included stay-away season ticket holders who all decided to turn up to welcome Sir Chris home?
