Now is the time that we ALL have to get behind the team.
We have had far too many people getting on the players backs far to soon. In the early years back at the Valley we all seemed to get behind the team through thick & thin. We made the Valley a horrible place to come at times with the noise and support.
We have to be supportive of the club through the coming months cos there will be highs & lows.
We have what we have wanted the club is safe, new owners and now a new manager (& club legend) who hopefully given time by everyone can take us forawrd.
It should be a new era from the fans as well as the club.

It's up to us, the fans, to make it "Fortress Valley" once again!
Then dont go if you dont like the idea.
The difference is though mate, we have a new board who has helped stabalise the club, who have acted quickly after the team being destroyed by swindon and have installed a manger who has the same love of the club ("spiritual home") that we have and understands what we have been through as fans ... so if we can just reign in the boos, and sighs if the team arent leading within 20 mins, it can only help the players and the club as a whole...
If even half of our support got stuck in like we did on 5.12.92, when we will have more than twice as big crowd, and a decent all covered Valley, it would lift everybody and be a fantastic occasion, one which I am gutted to miss.
your name should be swords_dead.... bloody misery...
Surely the definition of "Supporters" is to support the team?
Well, that's what it always used to mean.
It used to make me feel sick to my stomach to hear the opposing manager so frequently say something like, "We knew that if we could stifle Charlton for 20 minutes, then their fans would turn against them".
Let's hope we never again hear an opposing manager say that.
Bloody right. Whereas in the Nineties I remember a different message from managers, such as Neil Warnock when at the Blades "It was difficult because they're a good crowd here they get behind the team and make it quite intimidating" Or Glen Hoddle - and this one is so ironic " They're a good crowd, theya re patient with their team...

One day we will get back to that hopefully
;o)
Yes, yes we will........ this last 20 yrs has been a massive learning curve for us all......
Maybe the west stand could even sing something...
Well at least look bothed.....
You've been supporting Charlton for too long!!
I have no doubt that the atmosphere will be brilliant against Plymouth, the trick will be for this to continue thereafter, regardless of performances on the field. Chrissy will come in with a wealth of goodwill from the club, but during matches we need to be supportive of the team and his staff and not redirect the animosity that was directed against Parkie to them.
Will the guy in front of me who asked a player to die against swindon now accept poor play and get behind the club instead of booing and calling the teams c...s, next to his under ten year old daughter. I hope the arrival of Chrissy will get him behind everybody regardless of the result and performance.
Of course given the right performance the crowd atmosphere will great.
