Danny Uchechi

edited January 2011 in General Charlton
Remember him? U18 striker, briefly changed him name to Chima Orelaja. Was linked with a few clubs, might be wrong but I think he couldn't get a work permit so he never signed pro here?

Anyone know who he's been playing for since he left us?

Linked with Leicester
City are also likely to offer a deal to Nigerian striker Danny Uchechi.

The 21-year-old spent five years with Charlton and has been capped at under-21 and under-23 level by his country.

He featured in a trial match at Aston Villa before Christmas, along with South Africa international Bernard Parker as part of a two-week spell with City.

  • I remember him god is he an arrogant little shite
  • Trials with Villa / linked with moves to Championship? Did he get good overnight or something?
  • Not a trial with Villa, played against them on trial.

Student visa only and very pushy and dodgy agent. Really messed us about.

May now have a euro work permit but he's been constantly 'about to' sign for a big club for three years.

He must have the same agent as Alan Pardew or Chris Dickson

No he was always good. I saw him play a number of times alongside Waggy, Shelvey, Solly etc. and each time thought he was the standout player.

However this made no difference as while Shelvey (who was younger) showed what can be achieved when application, commen sence, and loyalty are added to sheer talent. Danny appeared to be heading in entirly the other direction.

I hope for Danny's sake he has now sorted himself out, (I was going to put him as my pick in the players you thought would become a CAFC legend thread) but I don't think there was any more that we could have done to fix his ongoing problems.
  • I completely agree with sygonrima.

Wasn't he at West Ham for a while?
