  • Good work, surprising how many did (or are doing) well.
  • Lot more Yes's than no

IF ANYONE ON THE BOARD IS LOOKING AT THIS

    GIVE CHRIS POWELL THE JOB

every fan would be behind it

    Agree!
  • Better make sure Sir Chris' first managerial job is with us - out of about 40 successes on AFKA's list, I've counted 19 who have gone on to be a failure elsewhere, could be more than that as there's a few I wasn't sure about. If he manages someone else first and does a fine job, there's still a 50% chance that he'll be rubbish when he comes to us!
  • You could counter that though by saying if their first job in management wasn't a success then why would anyone else employ them. Hence why most of that list has successes on it.
  • It's all opinions, I would be interested to know which Coventry fans would consider Strachan a success and Watford with Brendan Rodgers. Managers like Glenn Roeder are missing as well.

That being said, Powell is rated highly at Leicester!

Fair point on Rogers, will amend. But Strachan was manager of Cov in the top flight for five seasons and they didn't go down in that period. No ones stays 5 years in the job if they are doing badly.

This was just a list of the last 50-odd managerial changes. If people want to help expand it, then please go ahead.
  • I got Strachan's time at Coventry mixed up with Gary McAllister's!
  • if their first job is a failure then they're much less likely to be on the managerial circuit (see Les Reed) - so there's bound to be a lot more YESs than NOs
  • GET CHRIS POWELL IN IMMEDIATELY!!!!

  • Was David Moyes first job as manager at Preston, if so, he would be included in the success list.
  • Good list.

However, the 500 who failed in their first job are now forgotten so didn't feature :-)
