edited January 2011 in General Charlton
Sitting in the top tier on Sunday... obviously want to stand throughout and sing throughout aswell.

Was wondering if you guys think that the top tier will be where this will happen because of the criteria '4 away games' however it also said valley gold aswell so im not sure?

Can somebody enlighten me? :)

  • 'Sitting in the top tier' woops.. you know what i meant :P
  • Should be though from the experience, because the police UFO is above the corner, the stewards r much hotter on standing than down in the bottom
  • Im in the upper tier hope can stand throughout.
  • Upper Tier as well, will be singing and standing all day.
  • The upper is where the fans with most priority for the tickets will be, therefore the more loyal ones along with some VG.
Sure this type of fan is not expecting to sit.
    Personally i will be standing.

we all in the upper tier also, the place to be

I will not be sitting down ffs.
  • Where are people going for a beer pre-match? Anywhere more exciting than Liverpool St Wetherspoons, what about round the ground?
  • Getting to the Hamilton Hall early i think.
  • I've got "restrictive view" tickets - I wonder if the view will be more or less restrictive if I'm standing? If I can't see much I suppose I'll have to concentrate on the singing.
  • Hamilton Hall at 09:30 as well here, gonna be packed by then!

  • anyone further back than me (row 11) who doesnt want to stand i will happily swap on the day, do you reckon i'll be ok in row 11 for standing???
  • does anyone know how many rows there are ? i got row 17 , and will be standing
  • Please, please look around you IF you insist on standing...

Im sure people will be considerate, but the 'sitters' can help themselves by asking to swap with others nearer the front. Whereabouts are you MOG?

No offense but you've clearly never tried to sit at an away match if you thnk our fans will be considerate about it.
  • Will be in hamilton hall by half 9

Sadly true, and we have to try and swap at half time so we miss half a game. Some fans are fine and really obliging, others will greet you with F**k off you tosspot. We've solved the problem by not going to distance away games as we got fed up wasting money on hotels, but then you get hassle for not being a true supporter, so it's all very tiresome. Surely we can work something out?

Be adults and use common sense, problem solved. It's a football game if you stand you stand its part and parcel of going if you aren't willing to stand either get tickets on the front row or be prepared to deal with it.
  • You can't get tickets for the front row, the club only hand out the next in the pile and they could be anywhere. The club says it hasn't the time and resources to deal with it and they don't know the seating plans anyway.

TBH in my opinion it's trivial anyway don't go to football if you cant expect the standing the singing etc etc that goes hand in hand with the game.

    What breathtaking arrogance!

BE PREPARED TO DEAL WITH IT!!!!!???????????????

I will be attending with my daughter. We will try to stand but she is quite short so probably won't be able to see and I sometimes suffer from arthritis as with my knee at the moment and cannot physically stand for 90 minutes when suffering. I asked for tickets as close to the front of the upper tier as possible and was given row 11.

I will "DEAL WITH IT" by approaching the nearest steward if I politely ask somebody in front of me to sit down and they refuse or abuse.

The kind of loutish attitude your post displays epitomises the decline of our beloved club on and off the field.

    You can sing without standing!

    I know I've done it!

EDIT: and who the hell are you to decide who can and cannot go to football?

    The law says SIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • It's a disgrace

    These are all-seater stadia

You don't stand up in the Odeon!
  • Wow what a touchy subject. Clearly it frustrates some people who see other clubs having no problem when it comes to standing at away games. Leeds had 8500 at arsenal today, looked liked pretty much everyone was standing, so then for some it begs the question 'why cant our fans be like that?'

Len I am not telling anyone if they can or can't go football I am pointing out that the cultural of football is that people tend to stand sing and are generally boisterous that is not arrogance that is fact if people are standing in front of you then they have just as much right to stand and experience the whole match atmosphere than sitting down, why should you take priority over anyone else standing. I think it's time you go to grips with the modern football culture.

Errr no, they're breaking the law and have NO right to do so.

I stand myself when possible but to suggest that you have an equal right to stand as someone who wishes to sit is crazy.

Have a bit of respect, if someone can't see. Because you wish to break the law atleast have the decency to move so as to not be blocking anybody elses view

Errrr... He doesn't 'take priority' - he's abiding by the f***ing rules and you're not, simple as that. Personally, I much prefer to stand at football - but since it isn't permitted in seated areas (and pretty much all stadiums in this country are now seated-only) I would consider it a bit of a liberty if I were asked to sit down and I refused. Telling him he needs to 'get to grips with the modern football culture' is a bit like telling some bloke in a boozer that's just been invaded by coke-sniffing herberts that he 'needs to get to grips with modern pub culture'.

F*** me you've got some neck.
