Paul Lambert

edited January 2011 in General Charlton
Talksport saying he's resigned and probably going to Burnley....

Bit odd that.

Comments

  • wow....that is a shock.
  • Hope Norwich make a fuss about another team stealing their manager. Just not on that is it. : - )
  • Seems the resignation confirmation stems from a fake Delia Smith twitter message which has been retweeted and snowballed

It might still be on the cards but I think this confirmation is a dud
  • Yes - as an onlooker you'd think Norwich is the better job
  • Be a bit like Gus upping sticks and coming to us....
  • He's a clever guy, can't see him going to a place like Burnley.
  • This is why I wouldn't want Gus or any manager in post , Lambert is a star turn though a man capable of doing this to Wycombe will then do the same to Colchester and Norwich and probably next season Burnley as well.
  • Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him jump ship (again) but with them doing so well and his stock so high he's surely got his eye on bigger things. Certainly doesn't strike me as someone who lacks self belief!

Also doesn't strike me as a particularly nice person, I think the second he does get a Premiership offer he will leave Norwich for real just like that, whilst he may be a winner I wouldn't want someone with his personality managing us.
  • Norwich City have told @ITVAnglia Paul Lambert has not resigned and will be in charge of tomorrow's FA cup tie against Leyton Orient. #ncfc

    This has to be right.
  • @BBCNorfolk BBC Radio Norfolk can confirm Paul Lambert has left Carrow Road saying he will be at the game tomorrow - no more on long-term future #ncfc
  • He will be totally mad if he leaves Norwich
  • It'd be a weird decision.
  • There's a difference between bettering yourself/ambition and showing yourself to be a mercenary.
  • As an onlooker it would seem he'd be totally mad to go there but looking further into it, wasn't it only last season that Norwich were on the verge on administration if they didn't go up? They might still be skint for all we know whereas Burnley were in the prem last year and have another season of parachute payments to come.
If they offer him an extra 5k a week in wages and say they'll give him a couple of million to spend he may well be tempted.

Looking at his comments he seems a bit abrupt.

"You have seen the statement and I am happy with that"
"It's all about the game tomorrow and trying to get through that. I'll say it once and once only - ask me about the game. That is all I am here for. To win a game of football. Don't push me on anything because the statement is there."

Why not just come out and say 'i'm happy at norwich and i'll be staying'

Playing devils advocat here, but somebody said on another thread we are after a proven manager doing well currently in the championhsip.........whos to say we havent got more money than Burnley?
  • He only signed a rolling contract after Norwich "acquired" him from Colchester, so maybe a case of what goes around.............................. wonder who his agent is.
  • been on ssn saying he aint going anywhere
  • No way would he leave Norwich for Burnley, a smaller club with less fans and a worse ground.

  • What LA said. Maybe he is negotiating a better deal for himself at Norwich. I know that I would if somebody wanted to poach me.

Who would want to live in Burnley? .......half the town is derelict and boarded up.
Makes Merthyr bleedin' Tydfil seem like Mayfair.
  • Has given an interview to the local paper saying he definitely isn't going, and is very happy at Norwich.
