Garth Crooks has been approached

edited January 2011 in General Charlton
My Dad is friend of Garth and has confirmed he has been asked about the Charlton job. He asked for more time to think about it but doesn't look likely that he will accept it as he enjoys doing his punditary.

  • Jesus that would see fans flcking away from the valley in droves.....what credentials does he have? a Good ex footballer who spouts 90% bullshit on the telly. No thanks
  • This simply cannot be true
  • sorry mate but this has to be complete rubbish ... no way
  • I'd just as rather have Garth Brooks
  • Garth Crooks :)

    Now that would be funny.
  • Behave Brownie, what do you take us for???

My Auntie is a friend Of Gladys Knight and she has turned down the job apparently. But I do hear from my local chemist that H out of Steps is now on the shortlist and would agree to a three-year contract if offered the job. Don't shoot the messenger!
  • I am Robbie Savage and I can confirm that I have been approached regarding the job but have turned it down because I'm washing my hair most nights between now and May.

he's probably been asked about it as in '..who do you think it will be..' rather than 'will you do it'. he's needing time to think about his answer cos he's a bit slow

Brownie has posted this because of redredrobin .

What brownish didn't know is that

Garth is my dad and he just told me he is going ipswich and that anyone going to the valley to manage would be mad as the position is only until mouriniho is out of the champions league and then he is in the hotseat
  • i think he's tryin to be funny cos of redrobins thread about knowing poyets son.
  • No seriously, Bruce Forsyth is 2nd on the list

Now that is a very worrying scenario....
  • Paul McCartney is the mysterious backer of the takeover too.

thought so, saw gus poyets mum on the 96 bus and she said the same

Nahhh, he hasn't got any money left, he bought Heather Mills a plane before they got divorced....................and for her other leg he bought her some Veet ;-)
  • Mervyn Day 33/1
    Hugh Jarse 40/1

    Both seen at the Valley.
  • Very unexciting ... time to look abroad ... after all we are owned by a company in British Virgin Islands.

What about Jurgen Klinsmann, Bernd Schuster, Marco van Basten?

Nice one Ads. Never liked the guy. Good goalscorer in his day (which wasn't during his time with us) but tries so hard to make the most banal statements sound profound...
"I truly believe that the team that scores the most goals will win. I really do". (I might've made that one up!). I don't honestly believe for a moment that the new Board seriously invited him to manage us, but wouldn't put it past him to suggest it.
  • Many interesting leads here. Especially Ads with the Poyets mum rumour, which surprised me because I never knew that the 96 bus went through Montevideo. I wonder if your Oyster card would work out there?
  • Good comment Paddy7 - I was trying to craft a response to this thread along the lines you have with regards to Garth being, not to put too fine a point on it, a pompous git, but you put it much better!
  • I don't think Garth would be any good as a manager.

But I rather hope he is appointed.

Then we could boast that .... WE'RE OWNED BY LIARS AND RUN BY CROOKS !

Sorry. I shall get my coat and leave quietly.

Most sensible thing you've said all week, Incorruptible....;-)

    Ha, ha, Weegie.

I wonder if Slater and Jiminez would sue if the SLP ran a headline saying :

CROOKS RUMOURED TO BE IN CHARGE AT CHARLTON
  • It's open season for palarse fans right now:

    1. Register for CL
    2. Post bullshit rumour about Robert Kilroy-Silk/Basil Brush/Herman Goering being nailed on next manager of Charlton FACT
    3. Enjoy teh lulz.

There seems to be a lot of it about!
