'I think we've found the right people - football people who have also got the money to stabilise the club and give us a good future. Of course we know what a good guy Peter is and what a good job he's done for the club, so I think he'd covered a lot of the questions at the beginning,' is Richard Murray's opinion of the new hands on the Valley tiller.
Pater Varney needs no introduction of course while Tony Jiminez has worked at Newcastle and has many contacts in the football world, most notably Dennis Wise of course. Less is known about Michael Slater who does not seem to have a proven football pedigree.
'I also trust Peter implicitly. We worked together for 11 years, and it will be fantastic to have him on board again.
'To be honest, to get this deal done in six weeks, considering we've had the Christmas period, is a credit to everybody. There have been a lot of people who've worked long hours and very hard on this,' continued the out-going chairman.
'If you ask me 'why Michael and Tony?', I wanted it to be football people. People who will take a long-term view. People who have the necessary money to make this club stable.
'That doesn't mean throwing money at it like some clubs have done, but enough to make sure we're in business and that we're a solid club and the last thing was for them to understand the potential of this area.
'We are, geographically, in a fantastic position. If you could choose a club to be anywhere, you'd probably say London, because that's where you can attract the best players; and I think this is the side of London to be on, and the Olympics is obviously the beginning of that,' said Murray.
The new regime acted swiftly to end the tenure of Phil Parkinson following Monday's defeat but Parkinson was probably a dead man walking in any event.
'Most football clubs lose money; that's a fact of life,'
'All football clubs from the Championship downwards definitely lose money, and we're not immune to that. If you add to that the fact that banks are taking the attitude that they don't really want to lend to clubs - or certainly no more money to clubs - it means it's got to be subsidised by local businessman.
'Unfortunately, a lot of local businessmen are having tough times as well. There are a lot of problems in football. We lose a few million a year in this division, and that's tough year after year, when the transfer market probably isn't ever going to be as buoyant as it used to be.'
'I'm going to be very proud to say I'm still involved,'
'Everybody who knows me knows that Charlton's been my life for the past 15 years.
'I think on balance I did a pretty good job. There were a number of mistakes along the way, but I think I want to enjoy just watching the football without having that nagging problem of 'where do you pay next week's wages from?'
'It still matters to me and I think the future's going to be good for us. I have a vision - and I'm sure Tony, Michael and Peter do - that we will be an important club in the years to come,' concluded Richard.
It remains to be seen whether Murray's current involvement will be anything more than a token gesture during the changeover phase. There are various stories circulating about the identity of the new manager but the appointment may well come as a surprise.
On the playing front, Marcel Seip has returned to paremt club Plymouth without having made an appearance for the Addicks while Matt Fry has extended his loan until 5 February. The new deal will allow him to represent WestHam reserves as well as Charlton. A longer term decision on Fry's future at the club will take place when the new manager is confirmed.

Excellent news imo
It's from the OS and was done before Parky was sacked.
Still the same questions that haven't been answered
Who own the club?
How much money?
What's the business plan?
What about the Academy?
What about the Valley?
What's the Exit strategy?
Henners, you must have a few useful phone numbers from a past life; feel free to whisper me them and I'll see what answers I can get
No legal right at all. Doesn't mean we should stop asking.
1 Who own the club?
2 How much money?
3 What's the business plan?
4 What about the Academy?
5 What about the Valley?
6 What's the Exit strategy?
2 and 6 are business sensitive so I can see why we wouldn't get a full answer there.
on 1. it would be good to at least get an insight into the structure of the ownership even if no actual names. The others can be answered fairly easily IMHO
Im sure I read somewhere that PV didnt rate Parky, I wonder if there is anything in that?
It cost Al Fayed best part of £100M to lift Fulham into the Premier League but hopefully the new crowd have deep enough pockets to see us challenging for promotion to the premier by 2012
Stop asking awkward questions Henry, you'll get yourself labelled as a "moaner" and told that fans like you are quite expendable if it means launching forth into the brave new future.
We will know a lot more by the time the new manager is announced and we see what money is spent in the transfer window.
