  • Have you got a copy of that Exeter photo, Lewises?

Remember meeting up again with you, Keith Bratton and Les Turner. Great to see you all again.

Keith, Les and me all played for LAC Rovers FC (Lewis Away Coaches) back in the mid 70s , which grew out of the kick about football matches we used to have at motorway service station car parks travelling to away matches.
And entered the Woolwich & District league (great rivalry with Charlton Supporters Club FC).

We were all regular Lewis Coach away travellers who played. Others, off the top of my head ......John Ingram, John Hall, Chris Slattery, Mauler Mason, 'Jamie' Jamieson. Trevor Ellis, Keith Shore, Stuart Banks, 'Big' Bob Page, Derek Freeman - and my dad Peter Page was the manager (apologies if I've forgotten anyone).

I've got an LAC Rovers team photo taken in 1974 somewhere.
I'll have to look it out and post it on here.
  • Jimmy Angel and the Martin brothers?
  • I remember Peter Page from the 60's and can recall spending some pleasant times in his company. I personally stopped playing for Charlton Rangers in 1973 following a double cartilage operation and went on to become a Referee (God forbid). As explained previously, Charlton Rangers will be holding a big bash to celebrate their 50th Birthday in 2015 and I know that they are attempting to contact as many past players / supporters to join in the celebrations. If any former players or supporters would like to contact me by e-mail at ashfordandshepwayaddicks@talktalk.net I will be pleased to pass on their details to Charlton Rangers. Bythe way Essex-Al, Roger Culff is still around and is now the Club's Life President.
  • Have just checked and Charlton did beat Villa 1-0 in FA Cup Replay at the Valley on 12th January, 1970 ( I think that Harry Gregory was the goalscorer)
  • Peter Page was ( I think ) the steward at the Meridian sports club.

    Paul Winton

    Andy Spry

    Joyce Moulder

    Tony Hamilton

    Brian Bird

Janice McKenna who married a welshman & moved to Cardiff !!!!!
  • I used to live next door to Andy Spry

He was General Manager at the Meridian Sports & Social Club in Charlton from 1977 until he retired in 1999.

Peter Page is my dad, retired now of course but still a ST holder at The Valley.
    He'll be 79 in April.

I'll have to ask him, GH.

Memories, eh? Clearing the rubbish, making the first pitch and raking the grass after it had been cut for hay .... that must have been the summer 1977, trying to get the Meridian.ready for opening after it had been abandoned for years.

It was the old AEI sports ground before that.
