Turning this ship round ?

edited January 2011 in General Charlton
We keep saying that we need players---money---a manager etc etc and we can get back to the sun light and away from this hell of darkness shit football no media and awful games---------------just a few things and we can get back to where we once were.

BUT

for my 44 years of going down there 34 have been much like this !! full of false dawns(nice girl) and promises but the usual humiliation---hopes dashed --- shit football and constant no- knob other football fans taking the piss.

This is life as a CAFC fan. The years (so f**Kin few) of sun light werent normal CAFC-----the twilight and darkness-------thats the norm.

Some fans never ever get even the glimpse of the sun we did, im thank full for those times.

There are no corners to turn --Parky aint even got a Post Code let alone a corner !

You either except they will let you down time after time after time, and that you will fall out of love with it,which may come back or it may not. Me (and i fear alot more) are thinking of walking into the sunset and saying "thanks for the good times but they were just soooooooooooo few" and maybe we wont comeback

44 years geeeeeeeeee thats a hell of a time to be humiliated.

  • This is what I always hear from some of the older generations of supporters, but how does the saying go, 'it's the hope that kills you?'

My old man doesn't go anymore and there was a period where he didn't go for probably 20-25 years, as he was fed up with the s**t week-in, week-out. After I started going for a little while he got the bug again but since our recent demise he just can't be bothered. I know plenty of mates who have given up their season tickets over the last few seasons, fortunately a few still go and you get friendly with a few faces you see regularly anyway. If anything it's been the friendships that have kept me going, because the good football hasn't been there often enough. My generation were spoilt rotten, we didn't know anything else other than a successful Charlton side, but when you sign up to support the club you do it for life. But we've only had a few, brief years of humiliation. Reckon we've got a fair few more though.
  • Can't see the point of us hoofing the ball upfield when nobody apart from the back four were over six foot. Next game:-

    Elliott
    Francis
    Doherty
    Dailly
    Seip
    Jackson
    Mambo
    Fortune
    Llera
    Abbott
    Sodje

Doesn't matter about who plays where, Dutch style total football, interchangeable, just bombard them (Spurs?) with up and unders until they crumble. With that much height, at least we shouldn't concede from set pieces.
