Robbie Elliot - The Hero

Clearly not fit, forcing our players to play balls they didnt want to play.

Why say you're fit if you're not? And Parkinson - why play him in the first place?

Really annoyed me.

(But it's ok, he's a Charlton fan)

  • wouldn't be surprised to see Ben Roberts sign as a player as well now the window's open. Like you say mate Elliot is way from fit

Very good point. I couldn't for the life of me work out why we kept playing it out from the back. We kept doing it and getting into a mess.

    Makes sense now.

Another thing about Elliot. Being injured doesn't mean he can't talk. His lack of communication causes panic.

Roberts looked very very fit in the warm-up.

He said the other day he's not going to play again unless is a real emergency.
  • Roberts made it more than clear that he isn't going to play. We let the better keeper leave back in June unfortunately.
  • Elliot not fit. Perhaps. It's either not fit, too fat, or not good enough....... I'm going for the last two.
  • I thought he was poor today, not so much the goals he conceded but his general demeanour - you want your keeper to dominate his area & inspire some confidence in those infront of him - to me he looked to do neither.

He was injured. He was injured against Colchester and was not even walking freely today.
  • The flying donut ... end of
  • His kicking was appalling and keep putting us under pressure.

You could've subbed 9 players tonight.....
  • He's obviously injured and looked tentative tonight. However out of all our problems with our team, the goalkeeping postion is about the least of our worries. We didn't get embarrassed tonight 'cause our goalie was a bit off form.

  • I would have had Worner in there. I think his kicking and throwing is more accurate and he can stop distance drives.
  • Does anyone have any idea who the other keeper was practicing with Worner and Roberts during the halftime break?

Maybe an academy boy or a trailist?
  • He should've gone off after doing a muscle after chasing Doherty's awful backheader in the first half at Colchester... I honestly can't believe he's played every minute since. He didn't take a goal kick that left the ground for half an hour on Saturday and could barely walk between his posts.
  • Probably gough if he's a tall fella

    Failing that Brandon hall

    Both youth keepers

    New goalkeeping coach?

No, there was 4 people before the game - Worner. Elliot, Ben Roberts (I assume) and another young lad.
  • It's funny how the Elliot haters come out the woodwork as soon as we start shifting goals ,and he's one of the major reasons for our desperate plight ,yet when we were doing ok and not conceding many you don't here a peep .
  • Needs to lose the pink top, that is my only complaint with Robbie. Deano's kicking was far from perfect and he was a legend here. Robbie is still a fine keeper and made vital saves against Brighton and Colchester to earn points so keeper is the least of our worries.

Did not concede a goal in the yellow top if memory serves- sheff wed, swindon away, barnet and southend.
  • There is clearly something not right with Robbie at the moment, maybe his injury or maybe something else but whatever it is he needs to get his act together pronto. I actually think he's a good keeper when he's on form but when he's not, his fitness goes down the pan and his game (and therefore the defence) weakens considerably. That said, Dailly has to talke some blame for the second goal too.

I started the discussion purely on the fact that he is clearly injured at the moment actually.

  • we got into the play offs last year due to his injury .......
he is so ordinary it's unbelievable , i could have done the same has him tonight if not better cos i can catch
it's games like this when a decent keeper makes decent saves and he just watched them all fly pass
injured or not i'm not convinced we'll go up with this fella in goal regularly
a couple of shots at him and everyone creams in their pants about how great he is but the ball gets past him so easily so regularly its not a coincidence

as sad as it is I was thinkin that today, most players are superstitious, why change back into a pink shirt when we won all them games playing in a yellow shirt.I know it's a load of old bollocks but was surprised when he went back to pink.

So it's not Parky's fault at all, just Robbie's pink shirt.

    Agree with nss ;-)
  • Elliot was the least of our problems...

Really ? I think Robbie is very average at best come rain or shine. I do agree though that just at the moment he is way down the list of our problems.
  • As pointed out, Elliot clearly carrying an injury.

But his positioning and lack of mobility was questionable today.
  • Worner had stitches in his leg a few days ago so Elliot may have been the fitter of the two.

The alternative to a half-fit Robbie is Worner and presumably Parky went with experience.

The same Parky that pushed Randolph out the club.

Almost - the same Parky who refused to guarantee a lazy Irishman that he was definitely the No1 next season

Randolph was undoubtedly talented but he apparently didn't train like he wanted the jersey whereas Robbie did
