Not a moan, just an observation....

how quiet were our fans today. I know its a pretty soulless stadium in a totally soulless area, but for 1400 fans (rough guess, dont shoot me if im wrong) we were unbelievably downbeat. Infact if it wasnt for the chavs and a few others at the back, you'd think we were all mutes. Sorry to bring this up, but its just something that frustrates me.
COYR for 2011.

  • most proberley saving there voice for spurs away i guess...
  • Stop moaning!

    (joke)
  • Thought for the most part the whole ground was like a morgue. I was amazed listening to Essex Radio on the way home how they were going on about how good the Colchester fans had been today. I hardly heard them at all. Lordy knows what that place must be like on a quiet day.
  • it's an absolute hole.....my subbuteo floodlights used to be brighter !

    no atmosphere whatsoever

    "proberley"

    ha ha ha ha ha
  • Precious little to get excited about. The players and the fans are poles apart, I'm not sure how you fix that.
  • as adriana said to rocky in that hospital bed WIN!!!!
  • Oh well this is a thread Im sure most of you knew I would comment on lol, but can't because I wasnt there today...damn.

Don't be embarrased to stand up and give it your all for Charlton!

I think that's what it is sometimes! A real shame if 100% true.
  • [cite]Posted By: CafcAndy[/cite]I never really get annoyed but i did today. How can we have a great turn out like that on new years day, the day after a take-over to secure our clubs near future at the very least, then 3 quarters sit on there hands all game!!

I think you're being generous here. I was at the back, and there was no-one standing infront of me, i know there was a few more central who were, but i honestly think maybe 1 in 10 were standing. Also i dont understand how you can be sitting when we have a penalty, and this wasnt just a few people.

It seems that we as fans seem to only turn up the noise levels if the players are performing. Imagine if we had the away end rocking today, how much of a boost would it have been for the players have the noise of a home team behind them in the second half.

I appreciate some people find it more comfortable to be seated, but it doesnt half seem to kill the atmosphere. Really hoping spurs isnt a day where im stuck on my arse and surrounded by people who look at you weirdly when you start to shout or sing.

  • I normally do sing alot more but i found it very hard to do so today as was around some older fans, not digging them out, they are entilted to do support the team in there own way, it just made me feel flat and the ground does not help.
  • There was a group of long haired indie style kids with some birds to the right of the goal.
Taking the right piss out of the oldies down the front.
Never seen em' before. Funny that. Tw@ts.

Little to get excited about!? 3rd in the league, Spurs away coming up, Robbie starting the chants before the game! All the makings for what should be a great atmosphere on our part.[/quote]

Totally Agree, Stood up at the back in the left section behind the goal singing for the whole match!
We may not be playing very well recently but creating a decent atmosphere is what an away day is all about.
Can understand some people not wanting to stand and sing the whole game but can't understand not standing when we had penalties/singing stand up if you love Charlton.

Didn't agree with the people chanting to get Doc off though, even if he was playing terribly.

Just hope I'm in a decent singing area at Spurs Away!
  • I generally find the atmosphere at a game has something to do with the action going on on the pitch

hence, no action = no atmosphere.

I will make a pledge to stand up & sing ALL game if the players can pledge to do their part and actually look like 11 players who haven';t just turned up for a kick around on a local park

    No Action??
    I'd call 6 goals, 2 penalties & 2 red-cards action!

    Especially on New Years day

I really hope everyone has their vocals well lubed and primed for the cup game next week

    Horrible soulless stadium.

More of a family day out kind of support yesterday and nothing wrong with that

Very steep seating in the away end - some people didnt even bother standing for the penalties

Completely different to say Southend - where the lack of leg room and pony seats meant 95% of the fans stood two years in a row.

Personally couldnt be bothered to sing yesterday, had various coughs and colds and shouldnt reallly have been there, things you do for Charlton

Can I use this too. I was singing, but not very loudly. I stood for the penalty and most around me did. The atmosphere wasn't great but I think it had alot to do with the shocking way that stadium has been designed. I don't think even if everyone was singing in that would you get any sense of "atmosphere" - why on earth did they build the stands so far from the pitch ?

  • Some of us 'older' fans have the opinion that it is perhaps better to support the team by sitting and hollering 'C'mon you reds' than by standing and chanting 'Mooney, Mooney, you're a c*** ' (like he was bothered?!). Could also see Jacko's penalties just as well from a seated position, then jump up when he scored :-)
  • [cite]Posted By: CafcAndy[/cite]The types of fans we have are more used to a quiet tea and scone in the country gettaway, not a fun filled away day.

    haha so true.

  • Andy, football is actually about supporting your team and hoping they score more goals than the opponents, not shouting obscenities at the opposing striker - who actually scored some decent goals for CAFC before his injury last season.

I was surprised at how many of the 'fans' standing at the back behind the goal wandered off during the 1st half while we were losing 2-1....

Just an opinion, not a moan :-)
  • Moaning about the fans or moaning about the takeover. Boy this site is exciting these days.
  • Just a minority who detract from an otherwise good site.
