Boxing day travel (help needed)

edited December 2010 in General Charlton
I live in upminster and always get train on matchdays.
I've looked into the travel problems and i keep hearing cafc say that the jubilee line isnt open (i usually get it from west ham), but from what i can see it is open, unless i've done something stupid. I usually get the overground from upminster to west ham but that isnt running and neither is the district line from dagenham east onwards but i can get bus/walk to plaistow, unless there is a quicker alternative.
I appreciate that there are very few charlton fans who live in my area and that most of you dont ever have to travel from essex and through the east end, but any advice would be great.
Thanks

  • www.tfl.gov.uk - look there for all the info if you haven't already.

I agree with you - it says a good service on the jubilee line for Dec 26th.
  • Sunday 26 December, District Line No service between Plaistow and Dagenham East. Replacement buses operate.

Bus service: Plaistow - Upton Park - East Ham - Barking - Upney - Becontree - Dagenham Heathway - Dagenham East
  • Sunday 26 December,Hammersmith & City line -No service between Kings Cross and Barking.

    No overground.
  • Limehouse change for DLR, bus from cutty sark?
  • journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk has a few suggestions.
  • thanks a lot, i'll try and persist, this journey could end up taking hours. I'm still not sure why they said the jubilee would be closed, they kept stating that people wouldn;t be able to travel via north greenwich

Sorry to bring bad news to everyone but there is a planned Tube strike on Boxing day, I'm sure there will be some service available like the last couple of times. but who knows what they will provide

Looking at the weather forecast between now and Boxing Day, there is no thaw on the way, only more snow and freezing temperatures.

Frankly, I'll be astonished if the game goes ahead so nobody need worry about travel and tube strikes.

Hope I'm wrong as I have tkts for the entire family.

But we've just had another inch of fresh snow in the last hour down here on the West Kent/Sussex border...

  • As long as the busses are still running I am golden.
Even if it means hours on the bus I am going to this game.
  • DLR at Woolwich and Greenwich is open, connect on to that and walk or bus
  • I reckon i'll be able to nag a lift but i feel for those who are stuck because of the travel issues. I can see southampton fans finding things even more perplexing
