[cite]Posted By: pilchard[/cite]Liverpool fans are amongst the most deluded in football, the chaps at Everton seem far more in touch with reality, Liverpool's last title win was 1991 even Blackburn Rovers and Leeds United have won it more recently!

Couldn't agree more. If it wasn't for the period when Shankly, Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish were in charge (from about 1964 to 1991) Liverpool have barely been beyond ordinary. Nowadays their fans are living on the remnants of what Shankly and Paisley built up, thinking they have a divine right to be at the top. Well, wake up and smell the coffee.

    Totally agree Rob.
  • rumoured to be going back to Fulham on loan

Whats the saying? never go back? well, we could do with a left back so send him down Kenny.

Yeah, what have the Roman's ever done for us?!

    European Cup Winners - 2004/2005
    FA Cup Winners- 2004/2005
    League Cup Winners- 1994/1995-2000/2001-2005/2006
    UEFA Cup Winners- 2000/2001
European Super Cup Winners- 2001 and 2005

Thats since 1994.....Oh to be ordinary
  • European Cup...I remember when teams had to win their league to get into that competition.

Liverpool have underperformed since the start of the Premiership - as the above stats suggest, they are a good cup team, nothing more.

I think you'll find the comment was "barely been beyond ordinary" now that might be barely beyond ordinary to you but for the life of me cant remember many other english teams being that ordinary in the last 17 years. Perhaps you haven't been a charlton supporter long because i know many of them and west ham supporters that would like to underperform that well. It doesn't matter that you can remember when you had to win the league to enter it, you dont have to now and they won it. is there maybe less than a hand full of English clubs that have done anywhere near as well in those years since 94? I would guess 3 tops and how many of those have actually gone on to win the European cup? I think thats about 1 other, so yes i see yor point so very very less than ordinary... Ps i remember when you had to play 42 league games a season in the top division, does that now make the winners of the prem any less worthy?

Quality. Apart from that 27-year spell when they won everything in sight when have they ever been a real force in the English game?

Hahaha yeah they're crap, come one Liverpool get your fingers out, 8 trophys in 15 years is rubbish (ok 1 was the european cup) but stil not good enough. Some of us remember when you won things ;-)

The sad thing is they are slagging off the most successful team in english football just because Konchesky didn't fit in. It may not be their fault it maybe that it just didn't work, wrong player wrong time syndrome. Trust me i like Paul i just think he went there at a bad time and the manager that took him there wasn't liked at all. They were linked from the start and it did Konch no good at all. I would rather see him back at Charlton than fulham. Onwards and upwards and all that

To be fair Uncle, I was commenting on Liverpool's holy grail which is winning the league title something which the Liverpool fans would dearly love to win again as it has been far to long for them and what they are are used too, when I was a nipper it was Liverpool winning everything in sight and the League Championship trophy was always at Anfield and was something that Man Utd could only dream about. The cup roll of honour and trophies won obviously make them anything but ordinary but I think they might swap a couple of League Cup's for a couple of Premier League titles obviously not the Champions League trophy, nice dilemma to have!!
For anyone moaning about having to win the league in the old days for qualification to the Champions League that really doesn't matter a jot, the rules have changed and it was won fair and square in what was probably the best final in years. At this moment League wise they are in big transition and I think their fans have to realise that it may be a while before it comes back. Since my original post King Kenny has returned to his throne so who knows what may happen in the next few seasons. As for PK I certainly wouldn't mind having him back here but It won't happen -not as long as we are in League One anyway!!
  • pilchard I would argue that with it being 20 years since Liverpool won the top tier, you can hardly say its something they are used to. Used to expecting it maybe, but wining it is a dim distant memory.

I think the older generation of fan was very used to winning the league as a matter of course and that expectation still exists however likely or unlikely it may be. Of the Liverpool fans I know they still regard the league as the big one but the cups have been well recieved in the meanwhile, as for titles the current generation are still waiting. Football happens in cycles, it's Man U's/Chelsea at the moment in a few years it may be Arsenal/Man City/Liverpool or even....Charlton!!
  • Apparently going on loan to Forest.
  • Signed for Forest on Loan, bit of a fall from grace that. What a 12 months he's had.
  • Very big fall, a europa league final to playing championship football in under 12 months!

Always thought he was a better left midfielder than a full back.

So did Paul! I expect he'll be back in the premiership next season, but not with Forest.

    Bloody good aint I ;-)
  • Feel sorry for him actually. Good player, def too good for CCC. Victim of the Hodgeson effect. Was never going to be accepted by the fans. They've certainly made a lot worse signings over the past few seasons.
