Good idea. Lets put Jenkinson in for his debut against one of the best left wingers in the division (Myles Weston) who has already given us a going over this season. Nothing like destroying a kids confidence in the space of 90mins.
I'd give him a crack at centre back. Only seen him twice but he's tall, quick and looks very assured and composed. Massive step up though, but gives us a bit more pace. Personally I'd like to see him given a crack with Dailly though as he'd give him the best direction.
Clem_Snide why are you totally righting off Jenkinsons ability? Yes Weston has torn us apart this season, infact he has torn Francis apart this season so it's a safe bet he will do it again tomorrow. If fit Solly would be my no2 all day long but in his absence and Francis being a massive weak link at the back we could do alot worse then chucking the kid in. All be it at the deep end.
Its nothing to do with particularly rating Jenkinson, to be honest if they can put someone in at right back who can tackle they would be better than Francis. The guy is rubbish. Can't run, can't tackle, his passing is shocking. Yes he has 2 assists but considering the amount of so called crosses into the box he sends over how many actually reach a Charlton player, let alone stay on the pitch? Either Jenkinson or Daily at RB leaving Doherty, Fortune and Lera to fight it out for the CB spots. See thats how much i don't rate Francis, Llera is a better defender than him.
Don't get me wrong i don't blame Francis alone for yesterday, the guy is just so bad and needs to earn that spot not be there just because we have no one else.

Who's writing Jenkinson's ability off?. You seem to be making a pretty big assumption.
I'm simply saying that I don't think this is the right game to put him in from the start. He has little or no experience at this level and if he found wanting it could knock him back a long way. Pardew did the same with Wagstaff. Bigged him up, chucked him in against Yeovil in the cup and knocked him back months.
Whatever people think of this cup, this is a big game for us, against a team who have battered once this season. Not the time for youngsters. If we wanted to blood him Dagenham in the first round would have been more appropriate.
If want a change a right back tomorrow then play Dailly there.
Fair enough point. Weston, MacDonald and Alexander are the dangermen. I wouldn't mind Dailly at RB but would be worried about his lack of pace. I assumed that either Doc or Fortune wouldn't make it as neither of them look capable of playing 3 games in 6 days. So I thought Dailly at CB.

Can we dispel the myth that Dailly is slow once and for all. He's definitely quicker than Doherty, Fortune, Francis and Llera. Possibly not Fry, but that still makes him one of our quickest defenders!
Taken from Brentford FC site....Myles Weston and Carl Cort are both out, should we play Jenkinson in light of this news or stick with Francis?
"Winger Myles Weston is still missing with hamstring trouble and forward Carl Cort is a long-term absentee with an Achilles problem, but Scott has no new injury concerns following their impressive 2-0 success at the weekend."
It all depends who partners MacDonald up front - did they sign Forster in the summer?
I only say this because Mac and Forster are going to want it to feet. Neither are speed merchants so you'd like to think Fortune and Doc /Llera can handle them for speed however where all three of them struggle is when up against a quick footed player.

I agree that Dailly is as quick as or quicker than those mentioned.
the question for me though is whether, fit as he is for 37, he has the stamina to get up and down the line. Full backs and wingers are interchangeable these days so have to get forward. At centre half the game largely unfolds in front of him and he can save his legs by reading the game with his vast experience.
I guess he'd have Waggy to do a lot of his running but then that would still negate him (Waggy) as an attacking force. He bails Francis out frequently which gets missed much of the time.
I wouldn't agree with that Francis and Llera would IMO win a foot race. I think the thing with Dailly is anticipation - he makes better decisions, starts in the right place and gets moving in the right direction quicker than the others, so appears quicker. Once players are in behind him though, he (and the rest) are pretty well done.
It seems pretty damning that the only pace we have at the back, from a choice of six defenders is an in-experienced loanee. Do we expect any of these to feature next year? Certainly if we go up, I can only see Doc being back-up due to his experience. Surely Dailly can't go another year? Takeover or not I'd like to see at least one quick defender brought in even if it means offloading Llera and letting JF go. Otherwise we're into the old "give Parky time he's had to rebuild a new defence" scenario.
Oh, and Weston has been out for a few games with a hammy, might be on the bench though.

Had a look on the Eastbourne site, they've not had many games recently due to postponements.
Would be better actually.
link did not work for me ... try this
With Dailly back, Jenkinson will have some experience alongside him and with Waggy infront, someone to help out defensively.
Francis has played 180 minutes of football and Seip is Cup tied . Parky needs to change it around a bit.
Bet Francis still plays though.
So true, Oscar, so true.
I'd put Wagstaff there before Jenkinson.
