    Semedo - 6.5
    Wagstaff - 6.5
    Racon - 7
    Anyinsah - 7
Benson - 4 - seems to be carrying an injury

Abbott - 8 - made the difference when he came on as his bustling kept the ball more in Luton's half enabling the midfield to get forward and helped to create the set pieces we scored from

  • Elliot - 7 - did well
Francis - 7 mixture of good and bad mut great cross for rqualiser and more good
    Doherty - 6 did ok
Fry - 6.5 slightly better than ok
    Fortune - 6.5
    Jackson - 6.5
    Semedo - 6.5
    Wagstaff - 6.5
    Racon - 6.5
    Anyinsah - 7
    Benson - 5

Abbott - 7 - Did make a difference but as was pointed out previously Luton started the game at an unsustainable pace so was easier for him when he came on - the tactic was to get a decent lead before they run out of legs and give us no time on the ball. It nearly worked as who could have complained if we went in 2-0 down at the break. Waggy's equaliser was massive for us and I knew we would win as soon as it went in.

Having not seen the team play this seeason, its a bit hard for me to gauge on previous performances, but i was quite suprised with the lack of skill and vision by charlton.

I cannot believe we are second in the league from this performance, or it it a reflection of the league we are in?

    Watched on TV.
Not a great performance from us but Luton were excellent in the first half.
  • Went to the game (First time I've seen us this year). Poor performance from everyone first half, better second.

Elliot 6.5 - shaky start but got better, made a few good saves
Francis 6 - Bad first half performance, more assured second half, great cross for goal
Doherty 5 - Looks so slow and cumbersome. Few defensive headers that went straight to an oncoming Luton player
Fry 7 - My MOM. Impressed with him, dealt with most defending comfortably and kept going forward until the end.
Fortune 6 - Hoofball quite a lot but got better as the game went on.
Jackson 6 - Not in the game the first half - was surprised he played so wide
Semedo 6.5 - struggled to keep the ball first half but worked hard and eventually overpowered Luton
Wagstaff 6 - Hardly got into the game first half but great header for the goal
    Racon 6.5 - See Semedo
Anyinsah 7 - Impressed. Strong and quick, gets his bum in the way and keeps the ball
Benson 5.5 - Not in it at all. Was off the pitch at the time we played our best when midfield were in control so no service.

Abbott 6.5 - Looked to be challenging for the aerial ball more than Benson
n/a Sodje 6 - Looked strong against tiring Luton defence
  • Elliot 7 - unlucky with the goal following a great save. couple of smart stops but some woeful kicking
Francis 6.5 weak first half but much improved second
Doherty 5.5 shocking first half slightly better second
Fry 7.5 Something really endearing about this lad. Proper old school defender - loves a tackle and has a surprisingly sweet left foot
Fortune 6 Couple of decent "right place right time" moments but just looks to laboured for me. Think he is not far from retirement sadly
Jackson 7 Tidy feet, good crosser and an assist/goal. Not the paciest but offers good protection on the left and helps in the middle when needed
Semedo 6.5 Improved in the 2nd half but was pretty low key in the 1st
Wagstaff 6.5 didn't do much of note but scored the all important equaliser and is always available
Racon 8 my mom. Ran the second half with nice touches and good running
Anyinsah 7.5 Eager, strong and a lovely finish. Needs to read the game a bit better sometimes
Benson 5 - not a great game for him.

Abbott 6.5 Did alright I thought. Won a few headers and showed nice feet again. Unlucky with his shot. Really hope he gets more into the reckoning in the 2nd half of the season as he could be important for us

Parky - 7 We weren't fired up in the 1st half and were incapable of stringing more than 2 passes together Luton didn't really hurt us as much as they potentially could have done.. Second half we were much improved after Luton ran out of puff and we never really looked like losing thereafter. Considering they are the top scorers in their division and a very useful team I thought a win was pretty decent.

Luton - Fair play to them - some exciting players and caused us a fair amount of menace without getting the goals they maybe deserved in the 1st half. Wouldn't think there are many better sides in the conference
  • [cite]Posted By: danny777[/cite]Parkinson 1...poor tactics - players static, didn't anticipate, move into space or jump for the ball,; wingers didn't try and beat their man on the outside.

Sorry moderators I know this isn't the place for discussion BUT I'd love to know how it is Parky's tactical fault that players were second best and incapable of doing the basics!

No marks from me as I couldn't even watch on TV as we had the local Neighbourhood Watch meeting with Kent police going on in our house!

But glad to see Francis has got better marks than last time. Perhaps his piss-poor performance v Luton at the Valley was just an aberration.

Think Llera was very unlucky not to play last night after his MoM last time. Especially as it sounds like Doherty and Fortune were less than commanding.

I agree with what a lot of people are saying about the first half but even though we weren't playing that strongly offensively, we battled well. We had nothing going forward but we forced Luton to play in front of us. The only way they were getting round us was down the right where Francis started really poorly.

Second half we had weathered the storm and as they began to fade we started to impose ourselves more on the game. Fry really impressed me with his defending and also, maybe more surprisingly, going forward.

Benson was totally anonymous, but I think most people would agree that his game is all about the service he gets. If there is none, or the ball is just lumped to his head, you won’t see him at all.

Doherty had one of those games where you can see why he has ended up playing in the lower divisions. I've seen him have games this season where he has been totally commanding, winning the ball in the air and using his strength to totally nullify a striker but tonight I winced every time he got beaten. So you can imagine there was a lot of wincing going on.
  • Really struggling with this. I must be watching a different game to everyone else ( nearlly everyone else ) Watched on TV and really cannot believe the unbeaten run. Spurs away terrifies me.

    Elliot 7
    Francis 4 the weak link
    Doherty 5
    Fry 5
Fortune 5 this must be John's twin brother
    Jackson 4
    Semedo 5 off the pace
Wagstaff 5 ( the header gets him a point ) I simply don't get him. Looks lost to me.
    Racon 5
    Anyinsah 5 ( goal gets him a point )
    Benson 3 worse game yet

Francis- 6.5, some good crosses but defesively not solid

Francis is a real worry. Has a decent cross but an example of his poor defending was when he was too busy appealing for a throw when the ball was on the line to actually defend. The Luton player kept it inm despite being 2nd favourite to the ball. Francis was again favourite as he tried to let it go out for a goal kick but the Luton player was more dtermined, got his foot in and played it across the box. Francis didn't touch it, but appealed for the linesman to make a mistake (twice) and let a more committed player gain possession. He just doesn't seem to have the desire you need to defend properly.

First half though, we were a shambles. Amazed and glad we got a way with it. Luton just wanted it more. Ut wa like we couldn't a monkeys if we went through or not. One moment of quality though and our tails were up. Waggy didn't have a great game but he certainly has a knack in front of goal.
  • Luton played at a pace which they couldn't sustain - it was like Seb Coe against Linford Christie. Their tactic was to get a big enough lead to see them through when they inevitably tired. It would have been a massive mistake to try to match them effort wise and consequently they unsettled us by not allowing us thinking time on the ball. The game became relatively simple when they inevitably tired in the second and could no longer press. Going in level killed thier plan stone dead but I admit we were fortunate that we didn't go in 2 down which would have made things very difficult.

I am on the whole pleased that we have overcome this potential banana skin.
