A run of the mill/distraction of a game now turned into a glorious stepping stone/banana skin by the money spinning potential of a 3rd round trip to White Hart Lane.
Charlton seem set up to play away from home, even at the Valley, and anything like the Swindon or Peterboro performances will prove too much no matter how good Luton are on the night.
But the ghost of Cup defeats past will be floating into the consciousness of most fans as they settle down in front of the TV. Leicester, Walsall & Northwich to name but three.
The less than full tilt performances in the previous cup games have contributed to an congested fixture list but following a rest, thanks Siberian weather front, and the end of Fry's suspension this should be a stronger line up.
Martin is still refused permission to play, Dailly suspended and Siep cup-tied but otherwise everyone, bar long term absentees Solly and Youga, should be available.
The question is Does Parky field his strongest side at Kenilworth Rd or v Walsall? Or both and then rest players for the JPT?
If it is to be the strongest side then with Doc likely to be fit he seems odds on to return against his old Club but at who's expense? Llera got some good reviews for the first Luton game but others will prefer Fortune playing 2nd ball CH off 1st ball Docherty.
Francis and Fry seem locked on at full back which means Jackson can move back to left midfield. Racon and Semedo are surely bound to start but does Parky continue with Wagstaff? He's been off form but is still 2nd top scorer and his naturally a right winger unlike Reid.
Up front Benson and Anyinsah seems the preferred option but sometime over the coming three games Smokin Joe and Super Sodje might just be given another chance to impress.
We have seen Luton already and know that that they like to play football which might just suit us. Our better results have come against sides that want to outplay us (see Peterboro) and when our away team/fight it out and then hit them quickly mentality digs in.
Despite that, after 10 games unbeaten, with a more important (in my eyes at least) league game on Sunday plus the game being on TV I predict the worst case scenario of a 2 - 1 defeat in leg sapping extra time.
There will swiftly follow a melt down on Charlton Life as Parky's head is called for, Murray is abused for not selling the Club yet and the break down of the takeover is blamed on losing the Spurs income.
Enjoy.

Hope we win, not convinced we will.
I don't give a toss about this match now to be honest although having said that I'll still be following it either on here or via teletext tomorrow night!
You'll be able to watch it over the internet if you so desire
But course you never know, let's hope we're al celebrating and awaiting a trip to spurs, and not licking our wounds to a second non-league FA cup defeat on the spin.
wouldn't object to seeing Sodje getting a run-out - going to be freezing cold and not expecting champagne football but he at least has some presence and would put himself about a bit
Would be great if it was an 8-2 thriller like Orient produced last night!
Can't see how we can lose this, though. Cup upsets tend to happen over one game. A side chasing promotion to the champ. should not lose over 180 mins to a bunch of non-leaguers. 2-0 to Charlton, without the need ever to get into top gear.
''Llera got some good reviews for the first Luton game but others will prefer Fortune''....Surely not , after the last game?
Llera didn't just get some good reviews. He was quite rightly voted MOM by Charlton Life, while poor old Forch was made to look off-the-pace and unfit by a couple of non-League strikers, including that annoying little fat bloke, whose name escapes me.
