Was that named after Frank "Bronco" Burton, CAFC circa 1924? I guess it must have, seems a bit of an obscure player - I've searched in vain for Viggo Jacobsen Avenue or Gary Churchouse Boulevard for instance.

Theres a John Harrison Way near the O2, probably not named after our diminutive winger.

Thats the player I was thinking of.

To be honest I've no idea whether or not the road IS named after him. There could be a local dignitary with the same name for instance.
  • According to this Frank "Bronco" Burton had a distinguished War record

Perhaps that was part of the reason his name was chosen for the road?

Frank Burton Close in Charlton is, rather predictably for the borough of Greenwich, named after some long-gone Labour councillor.

John Harrison Way on the peninsula is named after a clockmaker.

It's just dawned on me an opportunity was missed when the new housing went up on Victoria Way and Bramhope Lane near The Valley a couple of years ago - two new roads could have immortalised some CAFC legends.
