I've signed up to get some information on Colin's Career at Charlton 1986-95ish, he's my dad's cousin and I know very little about his career apart from what I've read on Wikipedia.
My dad and him have grew apart over the years but I remember getting a Charlton top when I was younger which I'm guessing is from him.
Basically after information on how he was rated as a player by the support and any stories of any games he was involved in would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Always a hero at our place. Top bloke, apart from the times he and his partner in crime Bob Bolder try to goose me.
We signed him from Nottingham Forest when we were in the old First Division in 1986 , I remember being quite excited because he had always been a promising youngster at the City Ground and played around 100 games for them. Legend has it that Cloughie delayed his transfer registration so he could walk his Dog.
He didn't disappoint although he had a couple of bad injuries including one broken leg at Newcastle when the Geordies pelted him with coins. If it had not been for those injuries I suspect he would have remained at the top level.
His brother Derek also trialled with us twice and I think he played a couple of first team games for Everton and then played at Carlisle
Later that first season I went to the away match at the City Ground and doing as you do I kept my head down but over heard two Forest fans talking about Charlton - the only player they knew in our side was Walsh and one asked the other "What on earth persuaded him to move there?" As I say above Forest were to finish second that year and had a great team, we beat relegation in the play-offs but that day he inspired us to draw (I think) 2-2.
All in all one of my favourite all time Charlton players and a shoe-in for my all-time Charlton team.
definitely a charlton hero to me.
I am not sure but that has to be one of the only times that one of our own players has played against us.
Beautiful free-kick taker as well and took the odd penalty too.
I was at that game too and couldn't believe those cheeky Geordie chappies did that as he was being stretchered off.
Walshie had one of the sweetest left foots I've seen and was a quality player who deserved to play at a higher level than we could give him IMO. One of my favourite all timers.
Different class.
He was class, no doubt about that, the only thing that stopped from playing for a bigger club was that he lacked pace.
In addition, he was a real footballer and therefore not always suited to the muck and bullets of central midfield, which is probably where he should have played a lot more rather than being pushed wide-left.
Came across as real nice chap. He even told me he had played for Charlton. I told him I'd seen him a few times and I was there when he scored "that goal".
one of the best ever left footed player I've seen (Andy Reid being the other) and could hit a decent dead ball too !
Along with Johnny H and Richard Rufus he was one of the "missing" Internationals we have had..........
In case you haven't sussed it yet from the (rather cryptic) posts above SigurRossco, he scored one of the - if not THE - most memorable goals of all time for Charlton fans - the first goal back at The Valley after years of nomadic exile.
He probably would be considered a "great" anyway, as others have said, but for that goal alone he will always have legendary status amongst those of us around at the time.
Think his debut for us with andy peake?? was up at anfield and liverpool were the footballing gods at that time and one of the places as a youngster I dreamt of seeing charlton play at and couldn't believe it was actually happening when there
And of course that goal back in december 92 I couldn't actually believe that was happening either
I know he was a matchday host last season and came across as a real nice friendly scotsman .
He was a great player but more than that Walshie you are a great man, spent hours in his company over the last few seasons and the fella is great really great
his left foot was like a wand could do anything wirth it.
but that wonderful day in 1992 was written for him a real class player scoring the most important goal since the fa cup final.
god bless walshie and you can see him at any home game great man
Always loved Jim Melrose that bit more, but definately have a lot of love for Colin Walsh...
Dispels the myth you should never meet your heros
My old man told me that Liverpool were after him but Clough didn't allow the deal to go through?
Following year Keith Peacock was on the cruise, what a great bloke he was too.
Last year met Tommy Docherty, what a bloody boring git he was. Met the women he stole from a colleague at Man Unt, I think he was done. Reminded me of that old joke '' My best mate ran off with my wife, and I really miss him'' !!!!!!!!!
Who's up Mary Brown, who's up Mary Brown, Tommy Tommy Docherty, Tommy Tommy Docherty (to the tune of kness up mother Brown).
