Ridiculous reporting on the BBC. Just before it was all announced, their reporter said : ''At the beginning of the week you wouldn't have given the English bid a chance. But they've had a fantastic week and walking around the hotel where the FIFA officials are staying last night, you could see what a difference Prince William and David Beckham were making''.
Er, how could you see that ? Were they handing out free Rolexes, or something? What utter bilge.
V glad it's not going to be here. Summer is for cricket. When it was in South Africa last summer, it had a bad enough impact on English cricket crowds, and it will do in Russia in 2018. But it would be even worse if it was held here.
