[cite]Posted By: palcafc[/cite]I totally understand why this has been done but once again its the fans who lose out. The Walsall fans will have paid out for their train fares etc. The people at the top have no idea what the fans have to go through
After insisting they game would go ahead at their place last year, when it turned out that it was never going to, I have no sympathy for that lot.
The impact of live games are a pain up the arris. The Wallsall game has just cost me over £50.00 for a train from Cornwall, non refundable according to First Great Western's website, and suprisingly, you can't actually get hold of anyone to speak to. Will be about £70.00 to book up for sunday, thanks very much espn.
The Saddlers must go to The Valley on Sunday, December 12 (2pm) instead of the Saturday after the Addicks’ FA Cup replay with Luton was moved to Thursday, December 9th for television coverage.
The promotion chasers asked the Football League to move the clash so they had more time to prepare.
But the Saddlers are angry Charlton have got their wish and left fans with a journey to London on a Sunday in the run-up to Christmas.
“We whole-heartedly disagreed with moving the fixture and, as such, the Football League’s Executive were asked to adjudicate,” read a statement.
“Much to our surprise and disappointment the League have ruled in favour of Charlton Athletic and the fixture will now take place on Sunday.
“We would like to apologise to our supporters who, through no fault of their own, will have now have to negotiate their way to south east London on a Sunday.”
Walsall’s frustration is justified as the Football League’s logic is flawed. The idea of moving the game was to stop second-placed Charlton playing two games in 48 hours.
But, now the game has been switched to the Sunday, they still have to play two games in 48 hours – as they travel to Brentford in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy the following Tuesday.
The Saddlers are massive underdogs and were hoping to do everything in their power to give them an edge at The Valley.

The logical call would have been to postpone the Walsall match until early in the new year. If Luton knocked us out a suitable date immediately would appear! If not, there would always be a mid week slot somewhere.
I was in the car park and was only told by a steward that the game was off last year, after they had maintained all along that the game would be played.
Their excuse for a press office couldn't even get it on the radio until over half and hour after the decision had been made.
There will only be about two dozen of them anyway.
Walsall can F Off, like it makes that much difference if it is played on a sunday. How would they like it if they had a game on the Thursday night then Sat afternoon. After they called off our game last year when almost every Charlton fan was there or thereabouts, I have no sympathy either.

Shock exclusive: Midlanders unable to count.

Even if they win, they are going down anyway.
I do hope you're right.
